Easy to get lost in his voice because he doesn't use power points. But, everything mentioned in lecture will be on the test. Just make sure to take notes of everything he says and you'll be fine. He really cares about his students. It's easy to get distracted by internet/social media in his class, so just make sure to STAY FOCUSED and TAKE NOTES.
He truly cares about his students and wants everybody to get an A. You can either read or attend lecture, but doing both is a little redundant. Incredibly easy extra credit assignment that raises your grade by 1.75%: DO IT! Easy to drone out what he's saying. If you stay off reddit during class you should get an A.
Go to maybe 1 out of every 5 lectures, read Wikipedia and use google and the syllabus. Midterm and Final are multiple choice, can't get better than that. Don't buy the books. Nice guy but lectures are painfully slow and dry. The term paper is long af but you can do it if you believe in yourself.
super nice guy and really helpful if you go to office hours/ask questions. gives you study guides for tests, lots of opportunities to do well. lectures can be quite boring though
Gallucci has a lot to say. The more you go to class, the more you'll start blocking out his voice. However, he's very into what he teaches, and is very knowledgeable. Almost all oral, so take good notes. He assigned two writing assignments, both easy, and two tests which were easier than falling asleep during his lecture (which isn't very hard).
Ralph is a great guy with a lot to say.. a lot.. like I have no idea what he said at any lecture. I think he talked about his grandfathers war experience once. Regardless its an easy interesting class. Just read the book, or use google. He gives you pretty much every question on the tests.
The class was a 25% Midterm (very easy, 50% got As), 10% 1 page essay, 5% essay guideline, 35% Final (also very easy), and 25% 1800 word essay. Gallucci gives you all the information you need to get an A on the tests and the essays are graded easily. Books and lecture are not needed, only wikipedia and google. Definitely take as an easy GE.
Gallucci is such a great professor! I had multiple problems going on the quarter I took his class and he was very supportive and willing to work with me to help me pass instead of letting me completely drop the class or fail. His lectures are also interesting and it's so nice to know that your professor cares about you.
Gallucci is your grandfather first and professor second. I emailed him about missing my honors section because I was sick and he emailed me back the next day asking how I was feeling. He's always available to help and is such a likable guy. Can't wait to take more of his classes!
Midterm 40% Final 50% Two 1 page single spaced essays 10% Essays are easy- almost everyone gets 100% Exams are based on his worksheets and study guide- go to the review sessions! No powerpoint so attend lecture sometimes, especially after midterm Easy A if you cram and google everything on his study guide
I attended his lecture just because everyone here thinks he is an easy grader. That's definitely not it. You have to actually know the materials, which are mostly from Wikipedia. You do not have to attend his classes since every material he teaches comes from Wikipedia. You can literally spend two days studying his materials and get higher than B.
Gallucci is the chillest professor I've met at UCSB. His lectures were really interesting and knows all there is to know about Greek myth. Tests are easy if you study and paper was graded very easily. Gave extra credit. He loves his students so much that he gives you his personal cellphone number to call him whenever you need him! #guccigallucci
Lectures are boring and not necessary as long as you read. But ralphie is the bae and likes to chat with students during his office hours. quizzes in section are easy unless you have a strict ta. There is a lot of material and reading for the tests though, and 1 book reviewessay which is 4 pages double spaced although its really easy to write .
Ralph Gallucci is the single greatest professor in the history of college. As a naive physics major I decided to take his class and I immediately switched into the classics department. In fact, I switched using my computer in the first class within the first minute. Ralph took hold of my hand (literally and figuratively) and never let go.
Gallucci is a great & knowledgable man, and he wants you to pass. His test questions were very straight to the point: you either know the material or you don't. His lectures may bore you (I personally liked listening; it was like listening to my grandpa haha), but listen well because he covers the majority of info you need to know for the tests.
Gallucci is like the perfect grandpa. You can tell just by listening to him talk that he is knowledgable about and interested in what he teaches. It was an absolute delight to learn from him and I will be taking more of his classes in the future.
Gallucci hated taking tests that were ambigious, so he makes an effort to make his tests free of SAT-like questions. Read the book and you'll get an A in the class. Lectures are very boring and he provided study guides for the midterm and the final. Use those to get an A
Gallucci was great. He is one of my favorite professors because he gets involved with his students. He knows his class is a GE and he tries to help the freshmen out.
He was an okay professor I missed about 3 weeks of his class in a 6 week summer school and I got a B+ which really pissed me off but it was whatever. Just read the books and it should be easy
No need to attend lecture. Lectures were scattered and boring and he talks really quietly. I never went. He cares about his students doing well and offers a lot of extra credit (DO IT) and easy quizzes. His study guides were pointless except for all the pictures he gave. I barely studied for midterm/final. Easy A.
Gallucci is very aware that his class is a GE which is nice, he tries to tell you what will be on the exams. I rated easiness as 3 though because dont be fooled- this class will come back and bite you at finals. Stay on top of things, it being "easy" is misleading! IT all adds up to a lot to know!!
Gallucci is well aware that his class is a GE, unlike most professors. Midterm is easy because its almost entirely the Iliad, final is just basic history. Lectures are boring and there are no powerpoints but mandatory because he says exactly what's on the test. Took his honors section and he doesnt expect too much from his students.
One of the most genuine professors at UCSB. Lectures get boring but you can tell he is enthusiastic about his subject matter. Ive taken 3 classes with him and I am never disappointed. Take a class with him. He has the most bars
In lecture, he is like a grandpa telling his grandchildren a bedtime story. You don't have to go to lecture because he just stands there telling the stories of heroes.
