Great Professor. Very very helpful and will do all she can to help her students succeed. The writing assignments are relevant and graded very fairly. Lots of reading but hey its a history course!

She is a fantastic professor! She is very interested in the topic and her enthusiasm is inspiring. There is a lot of writing in this course, but it is all based on the reading and she is a fairly easy grader. I cannot recommend her enough.

For HIST193P. What an amazing and caring professor. 10/10 would take a class with her again. Course material was really interested. Class was graded on weekly reading question, in person midterm, group project, and final take home project. She respects her student's opinions and feedback, really wants to see students succeed in class. semi-easy A.

took this class for my PISJ minor, very easy!!! There are some basic world history aspects to it that make it boring sometimes, but most lectures were very interesting! So many opportunities for extra credit and exams were take-home. Dr. Rappaport is such a sweetheart, she wants everyone to have fun with learning. 10/10 class and professor.

Overall, if you put in some effort into the class, then you'll pass with an A. There were a lot of readings, but if you reach out to her, she'll work with you to find a middle ground. Graded by participation in discussion posts, midterm paper, project (could do it in a group), and final.

Great professor. She provides a variety of opportunities for extra credit. She is there to lecture, not to make the class content or assignments difficult. She is very great about emailing back and fairly fast. There are a lot of assigned readings but they're all free I believe and they are all very relevant to the content of the course.

Her lectures were really great, but to be honest I hated the majority of the readings. Felt like there was little space between papers. Tons of extra credit opportunities, which was a major plus.

HIST4C . Rappaport E D 3 Years Ago

She rants a lot at times, 3 papers total but there are multiple prompt choices. She cares a lot about her research so expect a few shameless plugs. Lectures can be about 3 hours per week at most, textbook expect multiple chapters a week. Section is just discussing text.

HIST141B . Rappaport E D 3 Years Ago

Rappaport is easily in my top 3 best professors I have had at UCSB. and I have been here for 5 years. She cares about her students and is very understanding. Her class is not tough and she makes it very interesting to learn about British history. She is super awesome and is willing to work with her students in a positive way. Take her class!!

HIST4C . Rappaport E D 6 Years Ago

Hist. 4C was a straight forward history course. 2 essays and a final. Offers extra credit. Read the novels and you will be totally fine for the exams and section.

HIST4C . Rappaport E D 6 Years Ago

This class was a lot of work, consisting of two papers, two outside books, weekly textbook readings, and section assignments. The lectures were boring and quite repetitive of the textbook. There are very few things in the grade which makes it tougher.

HIST4C . Rappaport E D 6 Years Ago

The class itself is not that difficult. There is a lot of dense reading involved. The only thing you will be graded on are two papers, a final, and section attendance. I felt like lectures were pretty pointless because they were based off the reading. Her lectures were not that clear and I felt like she would ramble on a lot.

Rappaport makes you really work. The material is easy, but she makes you read 2 books that are not that great and boring af. Depending on your TA it'll be hard to really gage, but I had Elizabeth Schmidt is she's the worst TA ever. This is supposed to be an easy GE, but she grades VERY VERY HARD and expects a lot. Do not get her as a TA!

Prof Rappaport is so caring & bubbly, she really wants students to do well in her class. There is a lot of reading. However, she takes the time to help out students during office hours if they are struggling with the material. Lectures are fun & engaging too. I'm not a history major & only taking this class as an elective but I'm enjoying it so far

HIST124 . Rappaport E D 7 Years Ago

Hist. 124 was an enjoyable course! No tests, 3 essays (two short papers and one 6-8 page paper), reading journal, and participation. Rappaport is a fair grader and gives great feedback - she wants to help you and see you succeed! She also encourages students to pursue their interests and gives plenty of opportunities to play around with research.

Would definitely recommend this class. She is very enthusiastic about the class and the subject matter. Her lectures were enjoyable and interesting and she brought food to the final. There is a lot of reading but the course it well organised. 2 Essays, a final (with a cheat sheet) and 1 small field work paper.

Took her for Food History and loved it! Great class and she teaches it really well. Very clear course - 1 final no midterm and 2 papers. Do the supplemental readings and go to class and you'll be fine. Not necessarily taught chronologically but still logically. Would take again!

Actually a somewhat hard class. Professor Rappaport is a harsh grader. Attended all classes, did all the readings, and struggled with the class
