Professor Mithun is a wonderful teacher. She is so knowledgeable and caring. She offers a lot of extra credit and truly wants your to learn and succeed. Make sure you go to lecture, and try understand corrections to assignments in office hours or section. Definitely one of my favorite classes and professors.
A very chill class. No final, no midterm. Just a few assignments, readings and a final project. Dr. Mithun is very passionate about North American indigenous languages. The lectures are very intriguing and mind-blowing.
Prof Mithun is super enthusiastic about teaching, and she is very caring to students. You will get a very helpful response as long as you reach out. There is lots of homework every week but it is actually really fun, just like solving puzzles. The exams are not hard compared with her homework
Super enthusiastic, really helpful in all aspects. She is a super sweet lady that gets to know all her students.
Marianne is one of the best professors out there. She's challenging but is like an encyclopedia of linguistics knowledge. You can tell there are wheels turning in her head that are far above the level of the class, but she explains really well and is always happy to answer questions and provide examples. Difficult assignments, but I enjoyed them.
Marianne is amazing. Yeah, the material, homeworks and tests are challenging, but she's really helpful at office hours and will make sure you know the material well. Insanely smart, knows everything about every language on earth.
Fairly unforgiving. Can't say I blame her, though.
Prof. Mithun is one of the best in the department. After taking her class, I felt more confident and comfortable with phonology/rule writing. I loved the way she wrote all of the examples/data sets on the board, so you won't get lost with what she is lecturing on! Very enthusiastic energy and passionate. Lots of Extra Credit assignments.
She is simply wonderful. She knows absolutely everything about morphology. Go to class and do the homework and there's no way you can get a bad grade.
Such a rude. If you ask about your grade she gets pissed. No directions on homework, not really nice about giving help on homework. Makes the cutoff for an A above a 90%
She's really hyper during class, but not in a way that helps keep you awake, just in a way that makes you kinda scared. She never gives directions for homework, and she didn't warn you that key terms are on the tests. Write down the terms she mentions in class.
Interesting lecturer. She'll stand there at the board saying "Yeah... Yeah..." and you can tell she's thinking about all this crazy stuff that's over our heads. But then she gets into the real lecture and points out lots of interesting things in a very understandable way. It is mind-boggling how many languages she seems to have studied in depth.
