Prof. Skenazi chose great course materials including French plays and poetry from the 16th century on, and offers interesting insight in class. There is a reader (collection of texts) which you must purchase and midterm and final are open-ended, in-class essays. She speaks mostly in French and gives good spoken and written feedback.

She is a great teacher and wonderful to speak with during office hours. She is always willing to meet after class and help with personal and academic difficulties. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

She shows real interest in what she's teaching & really knows her stuff! She's very sweet & encourages students' opinions (nice because some profs don't really care, don't ask, or just care about their own). Make sure you read though or you'll be lost. I really recommend her, she's very pleasant, ORGANIZED, & professional. Thats all we ask!

The reviews on this page are surprising: Skenazi is sweet and charismatic, but has no respect for students' time and covid policy. As soon as class could come back in person, she refused to offer online resources for those who felt uncomfortable returning. Plus, she starts well before class does. The material is interesting, but grading is hard.

Prof. Skenazi is a great instructor and the plays she picks for this class are all excellent. Her lectures are really thought-provoking and her delivery is very eloquent. There is a reader with the course though I found most (if not all) of the readings online however she will ask you to follow along in class. Overall great professor.

Very sweet professor who is passionate about what she teaches. But having taken her multiple times: unclear grading criteria. I have no idea how I got the scores I did on essays/midterms. She didn't give much/great feedback either. The essay prompt she gave us was broad and we had to write 5 pages, not to mention no one knew what to write about.

She asks very vague questions on tests, but is a good grader! She is very enthusiastic about what she teaches which makes the class interesting. You must read or you will not be able to follow the class discussions or write the paper.

The class itself is really interesting and the readings she provided were usually a delight to read, but unless you're really good at reading literature in between the lines, sometimes it was really hard to follow along in class. Skenazi makes herself very available for her students, but she grades very hard.

Prof. Skenazi made this subject really interesting. I signed up for this class because it was one of the only classes that were left at the last pass. I didn't really care for the subject but she made it interesting and was very helpful during office hours.

This course was very interesting and Professor Skenazi taught it well. Though for some she may be difficult to understand, it's not so bad really. very interesting topic and she had us do a presentation instead of a midterm so it was a pretty easy course. mostly writing grades, im a terrible writer and I got an A-

This is possibly the boringest class you could take in French. Her voice is difficult to follow and you may only look at one poem for 2 hours! Don't recommend it.
