WRIT1 . Smith K A 1 Year, 7 Months Ago

Mr. Smith was a very nice teacher and super supportive! A long as you put in the effort and attempt to become a better writer you will be okay. His portfolio system of grading is really convenient. He's funny and the classes are actually very fun/engaging.

WRIT2 . Smith K A 1 Year, 9 Months Ago

Smaller classroom environment (25 students). It was just boring at times but beneficial for my scientific writing skills. He gives the necessary feedback and really wants you to do well. I thought I was an awful writer but never got below an 85 on any of the 3 papers and weekly assignments were graded by completion.

Professor Kenny is a gem. Super sweet guy. Lots of great conversations in class. Two main papers in which he allowed regrades until you get a perfect score (on regrades he seemed to be mostly looking for people taking his feedback into account, so it was easy to get a perfect score on a regrade). Please take this prof is you have the chance

Kenny is amazing. Take a writing class with him. He explicitly tells you his expectations for each assignment, which really helps the revision process. If you put the work in, you will get an A. He's super understanding and accessible over email, and is prob one of the best professors at UCSB.

Professor Smith is truly a one-of-a-kind, gem of a teacher and human being. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him then you must do so. I've been with him for 3 quarters now because you learn much more than just writing! He assigns projects with the ability to revise/edit for a higher grade if you desire. Best professor at UCSB.

Kenny is an awesome Professor. The class had two writing projects and we were able to revise them for a better grade. He gives great feedback for your writing projects and he really cares about his students!

Kenny is a really nice guy. He wants you to succeed and gives you the means to do so. He challenges you to think deeply about different topics, but is never harsh. Not a tough grader in my opinion. Great prof, would take again!

I took this class during summer session (remote instruction) and he is a pretty chill professor. He gives you a lot of room for creativity when it comes to writing projects.

He was one of my first professors here at UCSB and I am so happy I took his class. His prompts are actually fun to write about and he's definitely helped me reveal a passion for writing that I never even knew I had. He cares so much for his students, both academic wise and outside of the classroom. Definitely a professor you'll never forget about.

Hands down one of the best professors Ive ever had. He cares so much about his students and is actually there to help you succeed. Extremely approachable and easy to talk to. If he takes points off an assignment he tells you exactly why and allows you to turn in revisions to earn back the points.

WRIT2 . Smith K A 5 Years Ago

Kenny is the best writing professor you'll ever have. Is clear about grading method. For my class it was dependent on your PROGRESS and REVISIONS after he reviewed your first draft, not what you turn in the first time. Very caring and accessible.

I really enjoyed Professor Kenny, I loved the subject matter and he made it interesting and fun to talk about. I always looked forward to coming to class. Highly recommend. We had 3 short papers and a research paper, but we could revise them for a higher grade afterward. Definitely take advantage of this!

WRIT2 . Smith K A 7 Years Ago

Had arnd.3 reading assignments, 1-2 pages and posted on gauchospace&you just have to write a small paragraph on what it was about. His class is graded on 3 essays, so each essay is worth a lot. 1st essay was 15%, 2nd was 30%, 3rd was 40%. Rest is participation&attendance. does require for each essay a peer review & one on one session with him!

Kenny is a great teacher who really focuses on assigning projects that will help the students later in writing. He only assigns four major papers and a speech at the end, so it's important to do well on each assignment to get the grade, but he also meets with students outside of class to go over their papers, which is very helpful. Easygoing guy.
