Amazing professor and is really straightforward with her grading criteria
I love Dr B!!! This was my favorite class of the quarter. Very well paced, with few smaller projects to help lead to the big end-of-quarter grant proposal. Shes uses specs grading which makes this class low stress. Would recommend this GE to everyone!
Dr. B is the best!!! Short readings and homework. The class was well paced and the content was straightforward. She answers emails quickly and is always there to help during her office hours. She gives excellent, helpful feedback on assignments.
Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had as well as one of the most helpful courses I've ever taken. If you're thinking of going to grad school this class is a huge help in learning about academic research and writing, and Baillargeon makes it less stressful to process. Everything is explained well and you get a ton of good feedback.
Dr. B is so chill! Always responds to everyone super fast (she made a class group me which was helpful). I never did the reading and I still got good grades on the assignments bc she covers everything in lectures (which are super short). She is super fun and isn't afraid to laugh at herself! I recommend taking Dr. B for any writing class!
Dr.B is really nice and gives good feedback, she's super helpful. The class is composed of multiple writing assignments (Obviously). There are four big writing assignments and every week there's about 1-2 small assignments due which aren't hard they all help you write the big assignments. This class has helped me improve my writing skills!
Dr. B is an awesome professor, and I really enjoyed taking her class. My writing definitely improved throughout the course, and we were able to choose which topics to write about for the large papers. She is very responsive to emails and even made a class GroupMe so we could all communicate. 100% would recommend if you need to take a writing course
this 1 unit P/NP class was really fun and very easy. show up and submit a few assignments and you're good to go!
very easy A, minimal effort needed. graded by just a few writing journals of 200 words on short readings and 2 essays. I honestly bs and wrote them the night before they were due since you do peer review ur draft doesnt really matter as long as you do good PR. just make sure to polish your draft and show some improvement and u should be good!!
I LOVED her class. She is an amazing teacher, and everyone in our class wanted to take her class for WRIT 2 also. She's super chill with grading, you only write one paper for the entire quarter basically, and you keep developing it throughout the weeks. Journals due before class, but they're easy. She lets us out early a lot. Super sweet and funny.
It was my pleasure to have her as my Writing 1 professor. There are small entry journals that you have to complete before the next class period accompanied by a little amount of reading. Just attend class and try your best on your essay and you will end up with an A. Great professor!
Dr. B was a fun teacher who even in early classes was energetic and ready to teach. The essays might seem daunting at first, but if you email or go up to her she's always happy to help and responds quickly online.
I only had her for a fun freshmen seminar. She was a really passionate and funny person. Very understanding and helpful if needed. I would love to take any of her other classes.
Always positive and very funny. I was surprised when getting feedback on my first paper because it was an audio recording. She gives constructive suggestions and is really thorough. It was a great class and she obviously cares about her students.
Unless you want to go back to a high school environment, then I do not recommend this prof and class. Dishes out legal knowledge, but is usually wrong and thinks her paralegal exp transfers to law. Types up the lectures during class.... why? The truth is she wasn't good enough to become a musicologist so she became an adjunct.
You'll spend the quarter writing one paper piece by piece. I learned a great deal about writing a research paper and I thought class was pretty fun. Very nice, and as long as you pay attention to the assignment requirements you'll get full points or something close to it. Overall, a valuable class and a pretty easy A.
This class made me realize that writing a good paper takes time. I can't just write it last minute and expect a good grade. Also, I used strategies from Dr. B's class to get a better grade in another class! Definitely email her or see her in office hours since she's really helpful there. Difficult grader, but worth it if you're willing to work.
Never available for office hours because she has band practice. She tends to assign Foucault and expects you to understand him without much of her help. When assigning essays, she's not clear with the objectives and doesn't make herself available to help. She grades from "not satisfactory-outstanding" so you never get to keep up with your grade.
She is a nice professor, but the class itself is tedious and boring. She also assigned pointless reading at the beginning of the quarter.
She was detailed with what to include in the research paper, as the entire class was just parts of one research paper. She was quirky and uplifted the class to make what would have been a difficult class easier. It was still difficult in the sense that everything was to be researched independently, but the multiple peer reviews helped.
Dr. B is by far the best professor I have had at UCSB. She constantly shows us new ways of doing things and I actually learned things in her class! I do not love writing but I found it to be easy and enjoyable when taking it with her. She gives great feedback and is always willing to help students. Awesome lady.
I have taken three writing classes with her and have enjoyed them all. She is clear and to the point. She does not require an expensive textbook, at most a small reader. If you need writing units take a class with her!
She's an awesome teacher, quirky sense of humor that is entertaining. Fair grader, you get what you put in. small hw assign due each class but they can all be done 15 min before class. the whole class revolves around one big research report worth 55% of grade, but most of it is due in sections throughout the quarter so not a lot of wrk at end :)
She is a VERY hard grader. However she is an amazing prof who is very enthusiastic and pretty funny. Her assignments may seem pointless and tedious at times but they are actually useful. Don't take this class with this prof if you don't plan on working HARD.
