Very nice, I felt like she kinda graded hard and refused to give As. If your aiming for a B this class shouldn't be hard. She makes it easy to get to know her well and she is very at ease on due dates.
Took Rebecca's class in Fall 2019 but hands down one of the best classes I've taken. You'll definitely have to attend class to pass and there is a decent workload but nothing too difficult. She genuinely cares for her students and their well-being. Easy to contact and always keeps the class up to date.
I had Professor Chenoweth for 2 quarters in a row and I loved it. (writing 1&2) She was very understanding if something came up and would respond fast by email if I needed something. She made me a stronger writer and as long as you put in effort you will get an A! Highly recommend her class!
Dr. Chenoweth is truly one of the best professors. She cares about her students and grades papers fairly. She is very understanding if you can't meet a deadline or if you need help. We met once a week and had participation forums every Tuesday. Definitely made Writing 2 manageable and fun!
Absolutely loved her class! She was always willing to provide extra credit opportunities, extra office hours, and anything that would help us succeed in the class. There were two projects followed by a final portfolio. Would definitely take again!
Professor has many compulsory mini-assignments which make the graded big assignments easy to do. The professor is also prepared to give leeway on deadlines with a good excuse. She is very friendly.
Very nice professor. Rebecca is really caring for students and gives very useful feedback. The course itself is not easy and takes lots of time and work, but Rebecca gives a very fair grade and helps us to success.
Rebecca is the kindest prof I've ever had - she genuinely cares for all her students and wants you to succeed. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone is heard and even though I dreaded participating in class, she always made sure everyone's thoughts were respected. Go to her office hours she's not scary! Best writing prof hands down.
3 writing projects and the final is a portfolio (2 of the writing projects revised). Her class was a lot of work from project builders (one-paged essays to outline your writing project) to writing projects. Definitely one of the more difficult professors I have taken at UCSB. Work for your grade. I learned a lot from Chenoweth.
Maybe the best teacher for Writing courses. She would let you feel that she read everything you write very carefully with good feedback, and she is also very kind with all of her students. Besides she grades loose, even myself did not expect an A for the final grade.
Very caring and open instructor. May grade hard at times, but you have many chances to revise since it is a writing class. Gives very good feedback and always wants you to succeed, so go to office hours. Very caring.
She's very nice and caring about the student and her class is very straightforward. Also, she is always willing to answer other student's questions and concerns. However her grading may be a little harsh but writing is a subjective topic LOL.
Great professor!
The best English teacher I've ever had -- hands down. She teaches really clearly, her class is straight-forward, and she seems like she actually really cares about you. She is super entertaining, has an amazing personality, and how could I forget -- is really really REALLY nice to look at.
Dr. Chenoweth was very nice, enthusiastic, and encouraging. Classes were structured in a way that required engagement and participation, and assignments were long but really helpful in practicing different types of science communication. She's a tough grader, but also offers lots of ways to make up points. Would highly recommend taking her class!
Always had a set agenda so yk what would be gone over in class. Gives great feedback and approachable, assigns meet ups at least 2x, they're helpful bc you get 1 on 1 time with her to ask any questions or advice on writing projects. You have 3 writing projects that are not easy but as long as you take in the advise she gives, then you're good.
She is definitely a very harsh grader. Worse her instruction and criteria are vague and hard to understand. However she is very supportive and approachable. You can really learn something but it's hard to get a good grade.
Chenoweth is by far the best professor I had this quarter. She gives lots of specific feedback on every project. There are two mandatory office hours where you can get questions answered or just discuss concerns about a project. The workload is very manageable and there is lots of freedom. It's clear she cares about her students and their success.
She's a total sweetheart and reminded me of Mia from Princess Diaries... no joke spitting image. But she is super helpful if you need it and definitely there for her students. She was just my section lead but still I felt like she was a person I could talk to. You have to participate though or you won't get good grades.
