Someone else said to take Krut even if he teaches an 8 am and I agree, he is awesome he would always let us out early and the assignments were super doable, he was amazing
Krut was a great professor. Super upbeat, helpful, and understanding.
honestly rlly easy class, graded on 3 papers and each one he can give u feedback before submitting and was always available for extra help! highly recommend
Krut really wants to see the writing develop in his students and it really shows, he has you do many writing exercises that really stimulate creative thinking and in the process you get really close with fellow students. I am really lucky to have gotten him as a professor, he is such a good person. My class was at 8 am and I still went every time
For some reason during summer he chose to be one of those professors that never gave more than a 90.0 on all my assignments. Lame
This was one of my favorite classes I have ever taken from UCSB. I love how creative all of our class activities were, it really made class fun and engaging. I also love how heave his own personal experiences when we are discussing in class. I was dreading this class because it was an 8 am but I have loved every second of it and wish it was longer!
Highly recommend! This class was a great refresher on professional communication and a significant portion is a group business plan which can be very interesting.
Probably my favorite class so far. He always seemed so passionate about what he was teaching and is dedicated to helping his students. He always told us to stay after or email him if we needed anything.
He's definitely my favorite writing instructor at UCSB! I had him in Winter 2021, and the class was in hybrid mode. The online part was very easy and not time-consuming at all. Attendance is required for the in-person classes but he always let us go earlier. 3 easy essays about your own life experience. Very enjoyable class.
WRIT105C was my favorite class this quarter because of Professor Krut. He is probably my favorite teacher at UCSB. The gradebook is mainly composed of three papers that he gives us a lot of time as well as great feedback in order to ace all the papers. WOULD LOVE TO TAKE ANOTHER CLASS WITH HIM AGAIN!!
Krut was the perfect professor for this course. Grading included various major assignments (40%), participation (25%), and the group business plan (30%). Lectures had a lot of great information and the group project is easy to tackle if you have solid group members. Krut is always available to assist with any assignments which was helpful.
Prof Krut, hands down the best professor my freshmen year so far! Although we were in remote learning, he made it clear that he cared for his students and was there if anyone needed him. I believe thats what made me respect him a lot, because he understood the situation we are all in. 3 easy essays!
Krut is the best professor at UCSB! Took this class and it ended up being my favorite. Graded on 3 creative essays (each 25% and 4-6pages) and 25% participation for class activities. Took this online and his lectures were btwn 2-5min. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who is creative and likes writing about themselves. Easy A if you put in effort
Krut is a great Professor. He lets class out early just about everyday to complete simple homework assignments. He grades fair but most importantly is a really good teacher. He breaks down the writing process and make everything simple and fun.
Professor Krut is one of the coolest professor I've had at UCSB. He gives great feedback on papers and will even allow the first paper to be re-graded. Class was very interesting and we got to pick the movie of our choice for each paper assignment. I highly recommend taking his class even if it is offered at 8AM.
I had this class at 8 AM TR but I would have come even if attendance wasn't mandatory. Bob is hilarious and he makes writing super enjoyable (which I thought was nearly impossible being a statistics major). If you finish all the assignments, listen in class, and complete your final project, you should have no problem getting an A. Highly recommend!
I graduated UCSB 2012; created account on this website for sole purpose of rating Prof Krut. His WRIT 109EC course has been the most influential class I have ever taken. Bob is truly extraordinary at what he does. I have a better career directly bc of him. Please don't use the format/ grammar/etc. of my comment against him. Need more characters.
not helpful at all. good luck
Bob was the most interactive and engaging professor I ever had at UCSB. He's incredibly passionate about what he teaches. His assignments are very fair and he is always willing to be flexible with due dates. Very reasonable grader and gives good feedback. Highly recommend this class to students of all majors.
Bob is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is super helpful and gives great feedback. The assignments in the class are relevant and have immediate application in the job search and developing professionalism. A large portion of final grading consisted of a business proposal group project, but the breakdown is fair. I would recommend him.
Bob is hands down the best professor I've had at UCSB! He is crystal clear with his assignments and expectations, a reasonable grader, and is always there for questions and feedback. He breaks down projects nicely so they don't seem too daunting. He will certainly improve your writing, even if you are already a solid writer. Take him if you can!!
Bob is without a doubt one of the best professors I've had. His lectures never take the entire 2 hours, for the most part he is done within the hour. The biggest chuck of your grade are three essays that he prepares you for very well, I never stressed too much about them. Just follow his tips for writing and you will do well.
I slacked off after my first paper so i got a lower grade than expected
Robert Krut has been the best professor I have had in my time here at UCSB! He is so great to his students and is genuinely concerned about each and every one of them. He is so helpful and clearly wants everyone to succeed. Take him. Take him. Take him!
