Physics CS34 is the CCS lower division E&M course. I legit don't understand who needs to check Dr.B's rating at this point, but here we go: FANTASTIC professor, make 200% effort to make sure to get the course content. Just take his classes, go to his office hours and have a fun chat with him!
Hands down the greatest math class I have ever taken. Office hours are amazing, he explains topics in many different ways, and he cooperates extremely closely with his TAs and LAs to ensure that the students' needs are met. Tests and quizzes are typically his easiest assignments. He wants you to succeed, and he is extremely enthusiastic. Take him!!
AMAZING professor that you CANNOT miss in UCSB. Very clear in lecture, very helpful in homework and exams. Also he is caring about students and gives many directions in physics career. The world best professor from my view.
he is a good professor, can be a little difficult in a six week course
INT 84AT is, on paper, Dr. B's blackbody radiation seminar; but it's actually a full-blown thermodynamics introductory course. The course is fantastic and also quite difficult for me, but as with all other Dr. B seminar courses, there is nothing a couple of all-nighters can't solve. Grade: A+.
Physics CS5 is a P/NP CCS lower-div QM introductory course. He is the supervisor and the actual lecturer is Mr. Simon Blanch, a junior physics major. The whole course is fantastic, like all previous courses I took with him. Credit needs to go to Simon too, but since he is not a prof, I'll express my gratitude here instead. Thank (both of) you!
Though sometimes the explanation are a bit abstract and hard to understand, but he's accessible outside of class, so I can still understand most of the contents. Also, the homework and test have reasonable difficulty, which the class is enjoyable.
Excellent professor! Occasionally went a bit slow in lecture, and the homework was much harder than the quizzes or exams.
Same as always. FANTASTIC professor that treats his students as first priority. Do not hesitate to take any class he gives, there is a near 100% chance that you will learn a lot of stuff. (You still have to earn your grade though, obviously.) (INT 84AH is his LD special relativity seminar)
Great professor, not much else too say. You should expect a lot of work is Physics 20 series regardless of the professor.
Does not give the most clear answers to your questions. Pretty chill dude and his lectures were pretty good imo
Simply the best physics teacher/professor I've ever had. He is extremely caring and always reassures that no question is stupid whenever someone asks. Lectures are very clear and lets you see the big picture. Accent is not a problem, but adds to his fun charm. Extra credit if you do homework in LaTeX! He is one of the GOATs in my humble opinion.
Dr. B is a wonderful person but overrated by many in the department. His lectures lack coherence and feel disjointed, and he focuses more on specific problems rather than building a good foundation in the subject. Tests and material are challenging but grading is generous. There are better professors in the department if you actually want to learn.
Dr B. is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His lectures are engaging and intuitive; he has a certain way of explaining things that just made so much sense. He possesses so much caring about his students and is willing to meet at anytime; beware that slots for meetings fill up quick!
Took this course over summer. Clear lectures, very understanding.
Dr. B clearly cares about his students a lot. He welcomes questions and never makes anyone feel like they have a dumb question. He is deeply committed to his students' understanding of the material and is especially good at explaining complicated things in a way that is accessible to his students. Overall an amazing teacher!
Among the absolute best of physics professors. Any opportunity to take a class with him is a privilege.
Great professor! he genuinely cares about the students, loves when anyone asks or answers the questions, lectures were all fun and very informative. The midterm was a bit tough for me, mostly because of it was a summer course, and there wasn't much time to be prepared. However, the final exam was really easy, the average was 86%!!!
I really like this professor, he makes learning enjoyable, and it's obvious he cares about his students.
Clear lectures and grading criteria. Midterm and Final were challenging but very similar to practice tests so review those well
He really cares about his students, he is funny and if you have a question ask it because he loves questions. He is the best professor I've taken so far. the only downside is that he has a lot of homework and I the grading is harsh.
Dr. B. was an amazing professor. He is extremely understanding, gives great lectures, is very accommodating, and makes himself very available to help. Physics 21 was a very difficult class however so be prepared to put in a lot of work.
He is one of the best professors I've ever had. He truly cares about his students and always makes sure they understand the material. He makes lectures fun and engaging. Everything he does, he does to uplift his students and never bring them down. DR. B IS THE BEST!
Dr. B is the greatest physics teacher at UCSB (possibly in the world). He makes physics fun and inspiring and helps you understand everything intuitively. Take every class you can get with him.
