Way too much work for a 4 unit class, 20 hours a week is insane and he wants rough drafts for physics homework?!?!?!
made me debate not being a physics major fr
Do not recommend. Class was difficult in both material and grading.
Not chill
Exams are really hard and has nothing to do with the practice exam. Lecture is just basically copying the book on the broad. Professor Sherwin seems so concentrated on the blackboard that if you raise your hand, usually it will take 1-2 minutes for him to notice you. My entire PHYS 21 is basically self studying.
Professor Sherwin may have a slow, sometimes confusing lecture, but his office hours were very helpful. He's kind and really wants you to succeed. Tests were not hard and covered all of the material in a way that made you think, but won't make you struggle. Also, reading before lectures were CRUCIAL for success on quizzes and exams.
I found it difficult to follow professor Sherwin's lectures. I don't think he explains the concept very clearly. But I guess that is because he focuses mainly on his research so he usually thinks about the concepts in more difficult/abstract way. That said, this class was okay. The exams were challenging and fun.
He talks really slowly, covers material really slowly too. But he is super nice and always willing to help :) If you try in the class the curve can get you above a B.
Sherwin's lectures could be confusing at times, and he didn't really understand questions. Homework was difficult, as were tests, but not especially so for the 20 series. Not the greatest professor, but still an interesting class.
he just wrote the formula on the borad during class without explaining. hw is difficult also the test. hard to get high grade.
what can I say He never seems to dig into the equations and just write the formula on the blackboard. You can barely understand what he says. You need to a lot of reading if you want to fully understand what the formulas come from.
He did not seem confident at the board, would forget things in the middle of explaining them. He was a good guy, but not a good teacher.
very awkward person, always smiling, doesnt has good intentions but cant level down to his students for undergraduate level physics
He has demonstrations almost every class, which are really cool and help you to understand the material he is teaching that day. Sometimes he talks very slowly and ambiguously, kind of like how he writes: with a lot a things scratched out like he started to say something and then decided to say something different. But he knows his material
