There were only about 120 points in total, so every point is equally important. I just need to make up two more one-point homework for an A (he did not allow make-up). He graded essays and writings based on grammar rather than ideas (he even pointed out 7 places where I should place more commas). It is still an easy class
Nice professor. He will give each of you advice for essays and grade homework fairly. In class, he is humorous and patient. If you have any questions about class materials or essay, just ask.
Rally appreciate!!!
Andrew is a caring teacher. He is not a easy grader. However, if you go to his office hour and talk about your essay, the score will be improved so much. If you do carefully on each hw, get an A is not hard.
Professor Baker is very kind. Although he might not teach you many "useful" skills in the course, and the course content repeate a lot, it is very easy to finish his assignments and get an A. LING class is all about getting a credit isn't it? Be careful: He likes art topic very much. Sometimes the essay topic may be hard to begin with.
He is one of the best professors. He is always patient and caring. I love this class, and my writing improves a lot too. Make sure you do the assignments based on his grading criteria. It's not hard to get an A in his class, but you definitely need to work hard.
As long as you work hard and go to his office hour, you will be fine. Give extra credits and grade generously for the final essays.
If you attend every class and hand in every homework in time, you won't get a low grade. Though it takes some time to finish the homework writing and polishing journals and essaysyou will get a fair grade. Besides, he is the only professor who replies my email at the weekends. :)
He is a great teacher and actually the only one who reply my email during the weekend. Also, he is a really nice teacher who tries to give you the best score. I don't know why someone gives him such a low score on rate my professor, and he is a truly great teacher who is both generous and inspirational.
Excellent instructor. Easy Class, high grade. Besides, he is a nice guy.
I don't think he's a hard-going professor -- in fact, I do grasp my skills in this class. All you've to do is just treating his assignment carefully, and it is quite easy for u to get "A" because he also will provide extra credits.
I didn't expect Linguistic class would take so much time and eventually get such a low score. Baker is very strict on grading, it is extremely hard to get an A in his class. If he is the only option you have, I recommend taking the class next quarter. It is not only me, I have heard many other students complaining about Baker's strictness.
There were 47.5 points for 40% and only 13.5 points for essays taking up 60%, I just lost 2 points in two essays, and I got C+. He only gives 4 or 5 out of 5, and 5 is very difficult. He graded on very subjective terms like you need to write creatively, poetic, sophisticated, and concisely, neither of them was talked about in class.
The grading system is tough, especially for essays. Getting 5 out of 5 scores for one essay is hard because the requirements are very subjective. There are three challenging requirements. If you can't achieve these three, you can only get 80% for your essays, which will drastically lower your score to a B.
Enjoyed Andrew's class! His class is fun, and he his not a tough grader. The workload is very manageable.
A nice professor! Very gentle and kind to the international students! I went to his office hour twice and he was very patient and gave me valuable advice! He does want his students to have good grades! Don't hesitate to ask him questions:D
Mr. Baker is a really nice professor and he is a generous grader. He gives very clear grading criteria and he gives useful and specific commend to your essays. Although it is an online course now because of covid, he meets students online each week and provides some useful resources for us to practice speaking.
Baker is a great teacher who cares about students' thoughts and opinions. His grading criteria was very clear. If you made few grammar mistakes and clear thesis, you will definitely get a good score. Remember to get his opinion via email or office hour before hand in your first draft since his grading criteria of first and final draft is the same.
Mr. Baker is a really nice professor. He loves teaching and I learnt a lot from his class. There are not too many assignments, and he will give great feedback. He also provides extra credit!
He seldom follows his class schedule, so there's lots of uncertainty in class. And you have to finish your first draft within one and a half hour and get ready to his quizzes. He is also a tough grader on drafts. I am an A student in my last linguistic class, but I don't know whether I can get an A- this quarter. I love Robertson even more than him
