The lectures felt like story hour -- very engaging speaker and obviously very knowledgeable.
midterm gets a cheat sheet, and the final is a paper. Each week has a reading and a short writing assignment, but it's def manageable. He's really nice and passionate about the class. My TA was also great
Lecture is def mandatory, but he has been my fav lecturer so far!! He is so entertaining and makes lectures seem like a fun gossip sesh! Only prof I will ever glaze
take this class! graded on 1 midterm where he gives all possible q's + a cheat sheet, section participation, final essay, and 6 300 word papers. i didnt go to class at all after the midterm (go before to get notes and be able to do well on the midterm). i got a 99 in the class bc lectures are interesting, content+paper arent hard, midterm is easy.
I loved this professor. He was an amazing lecturer and I actually went to class. The grade mainly depends on your TA and mine was hard but AMAZING. I found this class very fulfilling and interesting. There was a midterm in-class essay and 2 vocab q's and a final paper. The rest of the grade is weekly writings and participation. Take this class!
He is a great lecturer and class was pretty easy. If you go to lecture and take notes you will get an A. There were weekly 300 word mini papers, pretty easy and top 6 count, a midterm where you get a full page of notes to bring, and a final paper that was pretty easy. This was a great class that I really enjoyed.
The professor gives good lectures. The grade is determined by the ta.
As someone who doesn't like history I found his lectures to be very engaging. The midterm is free response questions, where you get a page of notes. The final is a 5-7 page paper. Section is mandatory and you are expected to do a lot of reading some weeks, but it is definitely manageable. Only homework is 6 essay responses to the weekly readings.
He is a very good lecturer and makes the content fun to learn! This class was very easy as long as you do the reading and pay attention in lecture.
You could do well if you are passionate about history, otherwise you'll find the lectures and readings very boring. There are readings every week paired with a 300 word written response, a midterm exam, and a final paper, and they were all graded pretty harshly by my TA. Overall, the experience largely depends on your TA.
Super passionate and engaging. I'm not a history person, but I loved his lectures. The assigned readings are fairly easy to understand and pretty interesting. The lecture slides have ver y little information on them, so don't skip class :)
Professor Bouley is a great professor! I loved his lectures, they were very engaging and entertaining, there are weekly writing assignments but only 6 are required. The midterm is defining some terms and an essay and the final is a paper. I highly recommend this class as the content was interesting as well.
Professory Bouley is AMAZING. Very captivating lectures, and truly made class very entertaining. Grading Criteria is quite clear. If you want an A, you have to attend lecture, as slides are minimal, but attending lecture is so so worth it. Brad is such a G.
Professor Bouley is an awesome lecturer, extremely funny and engaging. You're graded on section participation, weekly response papers (6 mandatory but can retake to keep highest score), an in-class midterm, and a final paper. Grading can vary based on section, but overall pretty light. He wants you to succeed and is extremely accessible.
Prof Bouley is the best lecturer I've ever had, he makes it so fun and he didn't give an in person final. It was just the midterm and an essay + weekly reading responses but you only have to do 6 of them. He clearly cares about History and his students. He is extremely clear when lecturing always checking that people understand. LOVE PROF BOULEY!
Great teacher, lectures are very engaging and interesting- the only thing is that he talks pretty fast and doesn't put information on his slides. If you are a good notetaker, you will do great in this class. Highly recommend.
Great professor, made me minor in History. Loved this class, very entertaining lectures. Readings could also be fairly interesting, and overall the class is easy if you like history. Highly recommend.
This class made me switch to a history major! Loved how clear the grading was. There is a weekly paper but it was short and didn't take much time and lowest two grades dropped. Tests were easy as study guide was given. The real reason I loved this class though was the way Bouley lectured, as he made lectures both funny and engaging.
I like him he is funny. And the class is not hard and very clear and interesting. 5 stars! I am a history major now.
Professor Bouley lectures are entertaining, and very well detailed! He is always making sure that everyone in lecture understand and asking questions. I did not skip or miss any lectures which I can defintely say is the reason for my A in the class. If you're thinking about taking the class, do it!
Took history-9. Very well structure course, clear directions on every assignment. Amazing lecturer, and is funny and approachable. Helpful in-class and is very accessible via email or office hours
Bouley is clearly passionate about the material and does his best to make lectures interesting. Go in w/ reasonable expectations bc RMP had me thinking lectures would be absolutely captivating. Not always - it's still class. He's extremely accessible during Office Hours. Rlly sweet guy. TA was a harsh grader but made section fun.
The readings were long but some of them were really interesting, and the fact that you only have to do six of them allows you to pick and choose in advance. Best history lecturer I've ever had, I'd literally spend the lecture before his thinking "I've just got to get through this and then I've got bouley". My section wasn't great but YMMV
Lectures are pretty interesting but you HAVE to go. Attendance only taken in section, but he lectures with few words on the slides so if you're gone you'll be lost. Super funny guy though. TAs vary but most are good. You read maybe
