The textbook was very easy to read and understand. Her lectures are based off of the reading, so if you skip class you will most likely be very lost and confused. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to pass the class I recommend that you attend because the material is dense. Biweekly quizzes and 3 papers, if you want an A you must read!

My favorite professor at UCSB. The topics are very interesting. The professor is also very caring.

Straightforward class. Not too hard if you devote time to it. Lectures can be a little monotonous but aren't too bad. Sections are super helpful, and you do weekly writing responses in section. 1 midterm and 1 final exam, both of which are pretty easy if you study lecture notes. I didn't do most of the reading and I did well in the class.

Brysk is a good lecturer and knows a lot about the material she teaches. She respects students who work hard and tries to help anyone struggling with grades or the subject matter. She breaks up the essay requirement into three short essays that are all pretty easy. If you have to take global 120, take it from Brysk!

Brysk is a very fair teacher. She will omit any test questions that more than half of the class got wrongs. She wants to test fairly and will adjust the syllabus to do so. She is also sweet! The only downside is that her lectures are a bit bland. She sort of just talks at you. If you do the readings, you should be fine missing lectures

Lectures were very dull & disengaging. Even if you attend lecture/listen, notes/slides still make no sense (she uses a lot of shorthand). First paper was only a page and a half but we were asked to write on content that we hadn't even learned. Very disappointing, did most of my learning from textbook. 2 short papers, midterm, group project, final.

This class was very easy and had interesting content. There were group presentations that made up a large part of the grade, but they were graded easily. Professor Brysk's lectures were a bit boring, and the slides had so many examples, making it slightly challenging to follow, but overall it was a good class.

Thoughtful, considerate, and reasonable. Goes out of her way to check up on students and help them succeed.

The lectures are really dense and contain tons of info. Sometimes it's hard to follow her pace -- she goes pretty fast -- and the content can be very confusing for those not familiar with global studies. There are a few quizzes and short assignment, both are pretty easy. And there're two papers to write, both are not difficult and roughly 5+ pages.

Brysk is an ok prof. Her lectures are sooo dense its really hard to stay paying attention. She lectures as if we know all of this information already so I didnt have a clue what was going on most of the time and just stopped going to lecture all together. Her slides are horrendous too so many colors and weird fonts just a mess. TAs were helpful tho

A lot of jargon to have to figure out at first. Great lectures that are passionate. Found myself googling words a lot in the class, but honestly I think this is a class everyone at UCSB should take because it really opens your eyes to a lot of problems in this world. Valuable for UCSB students to think about other people other than themselves.

This was a pretty interesting class, and Brysk is a super nice professor. My only critique is her slides were too information heavy, with little images and at times overwhelming. My TA, Julia, was a rockstar and a stellar teacher.

A caring professor. reasonable workload and the papers are not really hard. Her TAs led great discussions. She is understanding. Her class content is pretty interesting and covers more than just basic concepts in globalization but also more issues appearing these years which is refreshing. a really nice lady.

DO NOT TAKE: She doesn't follow her syllabus at all, her lectures are confusing, the slides look like they were made by a 4 year old, and she assigns two papers right at the end of the quarter.

I took this as a summer class and was one of the best choices I've ever made. She is easily one of my fav profs at UCSB. There is weekly quizzes on gauchospace and group assignments. The group assignments were frustrating if your group memebers did not care but she made the work not overwhelming. Very understanding prof. 10/10 recommend this class

Definitely took her global 172 during summer. An overall easy class with minimum reading of one tiny text. 6 online fair quizzes, 4 group projects and one short in-class essay for final which given the prompt in advance. Lecture is not necessary, but worth going because you will learn a lot. She is a caring professor always available beyond class.

Finally! A Professor who actually wants you to learn! The class was about human rights in U.S Foreign Policy and she really is an expert in this field. The class had a series of quick assignments that were by no means difficult along with a group presentation. There is no reason for you not to do well in this class! Love her teaching style!
