I love Prof Snyder. He is by far one of the most caring professors I've ever had at my four years at UCSB.

Teaches very well and is very helpful. He tells you his analysis of the text in class, which is pretty much all you need to know. However, your writing has to be clear and detailed, as he looks for many specific things. He is a kind person who is very willing to help you in office hours.

Snyder is one of the coolest professors in the Italian department. I highly recommend his classes!

I love Professore Snyder! He is a fantastic teacher and both classes I have had with him have been very interesting and I learned a lot. Neither class was excessively easy, but that was to be expected from an upper division Italian class. Plus he is super helpful and seems like he genuinely likes us!

Prof. Snyder was one of the top professors I had. I love all things Italian and especially loved his class on Dante's Inferno. I took his Comp Lit 114X class (Children's Lit) during a summer session as well. I like how he lectures. He is always willing to help and even wrote my letter of recommendation to complete my Italian Studies major. Thanks!

Professor Snyder is such a charming & kind individual. He may appear stern at first and I know his lecture style isn't for everyone but I absolutely love this professor. His knowledge of Italy and his passion for the subject are both impressive and engaging. He is more than happy to help students that ask and his grading is very clearly stated.

Snyder is a GREAT professor! Not only is he always super organized, but he is extremely helpful and friendly! He grades fairly, you just have to participate and show interest in the class! Just go to every class and pay moderate attention! I also took ital144ax! I would recommend him to anyone!

Snyder is AWESOME! He has a very theatrical approach to lectures which keeps them interesting and rarely deviates from the main points of the lecture.

Best professor I've had here. He cares so much about his students and the material he teaches. The class is tough but doable. He definitely made me love the Divine Comedy.

Hands down the best class I've taken so far; lectures are very in-depth, and the guy knows the Divine Comedy probably as well as Dante did. If you go to lecture/read the books, you'll ace the tests.

Great class, great professor. He is passionate on the subject of Dante and will make you just as passionate. It is a challenging course, but rewards will come if you do the readings - and reading before the lecture will make the class more enjoyable and easy. Nice guy to talk to also. Attended every lecture and loved every one. DANTE RULES!

One of the best professors at UCSB (take his other classes). The plays that we read were amusing. His shows lots of movie clips. The final was a take home and there was no midterm. In order to do well on the quizzes you must pay attention in class! Also, if you're not doing well on the quizzes, go & talk to him you should do well from there on out.

WORST CLASS EVER!!! I REPEAT WORST CLASS EVER! This man is WAY too into fairytales. It is impossible to do well on his papers. There is only one TA for a 300 person class. Overall the tests and papers reflect how overly seriously this guy takes himself. For christ's sake its called children's lit!

Snyder is by far the most challenging (thereby making him the best) professor I have encountered at UCSB. His class was quite enjoyable, but don't take it unless you are prepared to do some serious learning. He is very passionate about the subject matter and is pretty brilliant. Just for fun: he is also a sharp dresser.

Children's Lit was one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. However, my enthusiasm quickly faded after taking one of his exams!!!! What the hell, Snyder?!?!

Man, don't listen to the people that gave him frowns, this guy is soooo cake! to people that ****ed about too much reading- you should be ashamed of yourselves. pippi long stocking?? matilda?? a 4th grader can read these books!! How to get an A in this class = mark pages he talks about in class, reread before test. simple as that!

Pros: The midterm and final were EASY as long as you went to class and read the material. We had a lot of books to read, but I mean how can you complain about reading Matilda, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Cinderella, etc. It sure beats reading Fundamentals of Physiology. Overall the professor and class were great! Cons: writing the paper.

This professor was absolutely awful. He turned an enjoyable course into the most difficult lit class I've ever taken. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM. His tests were impossible and tested on all sorts of detail. I repeat if you are not a**** major, DO NOT TAKE!
