Kulper is really funny and nice. He has clear, reasonable grading criteria and rounds up generously. 189 wasn't a lot of work. About an hour of reading per lecture, and then reread the text a couple more times before the exams. The textbook and material are excellent. I reccomend taking 189 if you're an econ accounting major. Just go to class!

Interesting lectures actually address the relevance of what's being taught. To actually learn the material, though, you have to do the homework and/or read. The reading isn't really necessary though, its straightforward material if you've taken an Accounting class before. Very helpful in office hours.

Two midterms and one final, each are worth 15% of your grade. There is a quiz every class, and the lowest two will get dropped - they're worth 35% of your grade. Homework is worth 10% and section attendance is worth 10%, so plenty of gimme points. The quizzes will be on the material you did for homework and related to what he just lectured on.

A CPA with a JD degree, so he really has a LOT of real world experience to share with the class. A 10 question quiz everyday based on reading the assigned chapter for that week, he gives you 5 answers for free. The quizzes are handy when studying for midterms which are non-comprehensive and so is the final. EASY!!

Loved the class, very interesting. You have to go to class for the quiz (fast, easy). Honestly I didn't feel like it was too much work, you have to read a chapter before every class and it took around an hour. Stay on top of the reading and look over notes before tests and you'll do fine (take good notes on the reading and you'll probably get an A)

Big Doug is the man, but this class is rough. Far too many quizzes (literally everyday of class), the exams are pretty tricky. I love his tangents but they are zero help. You have to put an exorbitant amount of effort into the class and even that doesn't guarantee an A. Best of luck.

Killer is a goof and is super friendly but will go on tangents about random stuff every class. There is a quiz everyday but if you read before and listen in class to the examples you'll do fine. He is very fair about his tests and will tell you pretty much what is on it. I suggest going to office hours cause he gives great career advice

Kulper was a really nice guy, but his lectures are long tangents and don't really prepare you for the tests. You have to thoroughly read each chapter and you'll still be confused on his test. The class is rank based so do better than your peers. But there is a quiz every lecture so you have to go. Not bad overall but lot of work

Not an easy class. there is a quiz everyday.I didn't do too well on the quizzes because I didn't have the time to read through the chapters 4 times like the "A" students did. I did do better than avg on the exams. Easy to get a B in the class unless you want to dedicate a lot of your time on this class then you can definitely get an A.

Kulper is an entertaining guy, and you will learn facts about law that will help you out but his style of teaching is terrible. He rambles about what he saw on TV yesterday, the traffic to get to class, for like thirty minutes each class, when there is a quiz at the end of each class. If there was no quiz, no one would show up.

Getting a B is super easy. An A means fighting tooth-and-nail! recruiting season screwed this up for a lot of people, so BEWARE if you're planning on taking this class during fall and going through internship or full-time recruiting. But the guy is an MBA, CPA, JD = he knows his stuff and is an open book for his students, although exams are TRICKY!

Feeds off being tricky. Hard tests, but if you put the work in you will get a good grade. Pay attention to his "hints" in class because those topics are always on the test.

Only if u r native speaker... or else i won't recommend you take the class. an A students have to read a class material at least 2 times. non native 3+ and voca and office hr and practice online exam.

for native speaker, you have to read a chapter 2+ times in order to get a B or higher. for none speaker, 3+ if possible + memorize voca and go to his office hrs and do the online practice. really time consuming class.

This class is easy ONLY if you read the material serveraltimes. The exams are all multiple choise (tries to trick you) and there are daily exams. He's pretty funny and easy to listen to so the class goes by quickly. Would definitely recommend this class.

By far one of the best professors at UCSB. This class met once a week for 3hrs and it flew by with all of his funny stories. Weekly quizzes so must attend class. Make sure you read the text really well because some of his quiz and test questions are very specific. The most useful class you will take at UCSB!

Kulper's a great professor! Really enjoyed his class, there was a quiz or exam in every class but if you read the short chapter (10 page average) its easy, plus he goes over it in class right before. Interesting material and funny professor, he likes what he does & shows an number of interesting,real world news/60 minute clips! Highly recommend!

Doug is a funny, fascinating guy. This class met twice a week, consisted of 5 tests, and a mini quiz every day we did not have a test. This class requires you to stay up on the reading (not too bad), and is very easy to get a B+. To get an A, however, you've got to put in a fair amount of effort

I really love kulper! I have him for business law too. For ethics, you read one chapter for each class but each chapter is only like 5 pages long. then you have a quiz at the end of class. hw but he never collects it and presentation at the end. I enjoyed his class!

Doug is a baller. His lectures are 3 hours but they fly by because of his humor and great personality. No midterm or final, just one quiz worth 10% of your grade every class. In class he goes over the entire chapter you are about to be quizzed on. He also gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. Best and most interesting econ class I've taken!

Look. It is not easy to get an A. 20% get A or A-, 60% get Bs. and 20% Cs. That said, it is a fun class and 3 hours go by fast. He is also funny. Look, if you want an A you gotta be street smart 2.0. if you understood the above phrase then you can get an A or A-. if not, then your getting a B. Goodluck to you suckers who think this is automatic A.

I LOVED Dougy's class...very fun...take it, its an easy B, B+, but its hard to get an A...though very possible...Quiz, every week, but no other exams..and the final is a non ****quiz. If you're a class skipper this is not for you. He's amazing, and very interesting...go for every point of extra credit. It will make a half letter grade difference.
