A great class with relevant applications for getting the most out of your internship. Not too much reading, no exams, and simple papers. Created an e-portfolio which was very useful. Brought outstanding speakers to give insight on real-world professionals. Very caring and brought us cookies :)
This class has so much potential but the structure is very frustrating. Lectures are just random theories and information and she just reads off slides and is a boring lecturer. Group project isn't too difficult depending on group but if you have a bad group it could be hard. The class doesn't seem to have a clear goal
Professor Young Ji Kim is very understandable and caring. She responds by email but is best to meet in person. Class is weighed heavily on group project (40%) that is randomly assigned. The midterm (20%) and final (25%) are somewhat very difficult as you need to understand readings and class concepts to do well. Dense material and info overload.
Took comm 191 with Kim and she was the best. Its an internship course where you have to get an internship on your own outside of class and the lecture meets once a week for 2hrs. She brings in guest lecturers to speak. Super practical class to get you ready for workplace. Final project was updating our LinkedIn, cover letters, resumes, etc.
She responds to emails quickly and the class itself was straightforward. I'd recommend putting in effort for the group project and knowing what exactly it entails (office hrs helps) bc it can definitely carry your grade! She's really sweet and accessible.
Professor is really nice and welcoming. Showing up to class is about 25-30% of your grade. Readings are assigned on canvas but no textbook. There's one midterm, final and a group project which is worth 30% of your grade.
I hope she reads this cause I genuinely don't understand why she is so bad at replying to emails. Especially since this is the type of class that you need to communicate back and forth with her with.
Such an amazing professor! She gave asynchronous classes and was so great. She was extremely passionate about her area of study. Had almost weekly quizzes that were pretty easy and two group essays. Highly recommend
Weekly quizzes and forums with 1 response to peers. Pretty straightforward, I suggest watching lectures and skim readings and using your "resources." She may drop your lowest quiz score to balance out your grade which is nice. Also if you need an extension, just ask.
