I find the criticism of Ellie to be rather harsh, especially the last post. Yes, Ellie is very unconventional; she has a different way of teaching and communicating ideas. However, you just have to go into her class with an open mind.

This was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Not only was going to lecture irrelevant, but the section I had was super easy and one never really had to read anything. I ended up getting an A+. Take the class if you're looking for an easy A.
Pointless... Her lectures don't teach anything in particular, she just goes on and on. Very unstructured, no real lesson, readings useless. Easy class but avoid it.
i loved her. she professed more like a discussion which i thought was cool instead of drilling definitions in your head. if you are in honors, the honors section is real easy she gives you a lot of freedom. shes very funny and approachable and made lectures interesting.
Hernandez is so fun! she's got a great sense of humor, and if you want to take an interesting, clear, no pressure course, take out of her courses. it's totally kick back and she's really funny/friendly...grade based on an easy midterm no one studies for, a takehome final, cake presentation, etc....doesnt take attendance...GO ELLIE
No class structure and doesn't really teach anything during lectures. Pretty much a waste of time.
Ellie's class was clear, in-depth, and consistent. I was impressed with the amount of care that she put into her teaching and the obvious love she has for her students. She's the kind of teacher who cares more about ideas than grades. It was a pleasure to take this class.
I was very disappointed in this class and the material which was covered. I didn't think that it pertained 100% to women. After the midterm, lectures and readings weren't even needed. No structure to her lectures; learned more from my TA, but easy class.
Prof. Hernandez was VERY unstructured, almost disorganized. Her class, however, was a piece of cake.
