Excellent class, excellent professor. Lectures were complex but McAuley was more than willing to take questions. I loved the readings and really felt like I came away with a better understanding of Marxism in the context of the US civil rights struggles. Midterm and final essays were very open-ended which isn't for everyone, but I appreciated.

Very chill and nice. You learn real things. I did better than I thought I would because I didn't attend all the lectures or read all of the books. Would definitely take again.

Graded on three essays. Multiple books (I didn't read all of them though). He's super chill and very articulate and engaging when he lectures. You don't really do anything in class. The material itself is pretty interesting but you don't have to put in a lot of work if you don't want to.

I enjoy his classes I've taken three so far. very funny. Most essays are 4 pages and pretty fair. You should pass if you do every assignment. He is also easy to meet with .

This class is great! I highly recommend it to any student regardless of major. The class is graded on 3 papers of your choice and his lectures are not only informative but hilarious as well. I should mention he is a tough grader on those 3 papers. Attendance is not taken, but because of McAuley's lecture style, you won't want to miss class.

Great, enthusiastic, funny guy. No powerpoints, and no tests, only papers. But the great thing is you don't really have to read much bc he discusses the books during lecture, so attendance is key. His teaching style is great, its more of an open dialogue than a long boring lecture.
