TERRIBLE. First off, he's a nice guy. However, communication is not his area of expertise, let alone culture. His notes are all over the place, and its hard to understand what they mean when you look at them outside of lecture. do not take.
Enthusiastic professor and very interesting class material. Professor can be funny but some of his comments can also come off as arrogant. Tests are easy enough and he posts his lecture slides on Gauchospace. A little absent-minded so double check the dates he provides as due dates. Doesn't always give the clearest feedback.
Great professor! Super interesting material. I had a blast. These are the kind of classes that you go to college for.
Great teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory, but on the day of the final, you will wish you had gone to every lecture.
Interesting class and material but professor is extremely abstract. Students literally do not know grade until after they complete 3 papers. Final is 50%. First C i've ever gotten in a Comm class at UCSB.
His attitude is so awful that it makes everything seem worse than it is. He gives off the impression that he doesn't care about lecturing at all - like it's this crappy job that he has to go to every day. His tests are almost entirely on his lecture notes, and the paper is pretty short, so the class is doable. Not fun, though.
Very easy and interesting!! It is not necessary to read everything. The exam is easy and focus on lectures (not readings!)
Interesting class, but not a lot of room to ask questions. The grading system sucks since basically your grade is your Research Paper and Final. I will never take a class with him again.
Most engaged professor I ever had, best feedback I have ever had on a paper. Pretty cute all dressed up for class--rugged little new zealander ;)
