The lectures are very long, and I never took notes, and got a B at least in class. You must attend every lecture (iClicker points are worth way too much for some reason). Take notes, do the study guides, maybe read (I kinda read half the chapters), and you'll do great on the exams. Homework are REALLY short (less than 15 mins) barely gave any too.
Easy A, just do all your assignments and fill out the study guides. If you go to all the lectures and pay attention then the midterm and final will be a breeze.
Easiest A I've ever gotten. Go to class and pay half attention and she will give you the answers to the midterm and final. She is really enthusiastic about the material and she lives a healthy lifestyle so it's not hypocritical. Take this class if you want an A without any effort involved.
Dont read the book, just go to lecture and try to take notes as fast as humanely possible, she goes WAY too fast to even let you digest what shes saying. But assignments are easy and tests are a regurgitation of lecture. Easy material. Shes not helpful though so dont expect her to help.
If you are taking ESS 3, it is completely unnecessary to go to class although she says it is mandatory. All assignments are posted on GauchoSpace and are graded on completion. Read the textbook through once and you'll be golden for the midterm and final. Super easy and pretty impossible to fail.
It was not hard to do well in this class you just have to be ready and willing to participate and put effort in.
80 bucks for a class. Lazy professor, as seen from her lack awful curriculum. Hardly replies to emails. Pretty hypocritical that she puts in 0 effort into teaching but expects it from her students by assigning unnecessary assignments. Doesn't realize that no one takes her class seriously. 0/5 stars
If you think it's okay for anyone to pay 80 bucks for mcgraw hill for a HEALTH class take this course. It's not even a required class to take, that's not worth it at all... and for all these review I am seeing means it's not a great class either. If you make students pay for an online course you have no heart.
Easiest class I have ever taken at ucsb, she's really passionate about what she teaches and her lectures always kept me awake because they were actually interesting. Only one lecture a week and the rest is online. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to buy an $80 online book to do the homework quizzes but other than that amazing class
She's not knowledgable at all she reads off power points and goes through everything too fast. Majority of the information in her slides is random unimportant stuff, a headache to memorize. You won't learn anything in this class. There is bunch of great questions to ask on the exam and she'll ask the most unimportant random question.
super easy class
Take this class if you want an easy A. The lectures can be pretty heavy, but the tests are straight forward and she uses her iclicker questions on the test. She also gives you a study guide that is somewhat helpful. Minimal work required for the class!
As other students said, Amy Jamieson shares a passion for her subject. However, her lectures go by so quickly that you can barely comprehend what she's saying because when you're writing a slide down she's already on the next topic. Be prepared to type or write your heart out Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM.
I went to class every time, ran everything she asked me too, and got a NP. Total bullsh*t! I tried contacting her about the grade but she never got back to me and now the grade is permanent because I already graduated. Do not take this class, she is really unprofessional and you are better off running on the beach...
Amy is amazing! She is truly the reason that I want to work in the fitness industry. Being an ESS minor, Amy has helped me to find my true passion for fitness and to find direction in my career path. I would recommend taking any of her classes! She's great!
