Skip through materials very often. Tons of questions every exam.

Clear and intense lectures. Read textbooks before the lecture or it would be hard to follow. He spends much time on mechanism which might be good for understanding the materials of organic chemistry

Lewis has hard exams with low averages, but if you want to study hard, he is the best person you can met in UCSB. Always respond to email quickly and patiently. He is a great lecturer and teacher, hard exams is by no means a reason for not choosing his course

He is the best ochem professor ever. His teaching is really clear and straightforward. Go to the lecture and take notes, you will understand the knowledge. He really cares about students and he's really helpful (he replies emails quickly). Exams are difficult for sure, but if you get more than 75% in every exam, you can get an A.

Professor Lewis is the best ochem lecturer I have had at UCSB. His tests are difficult but 100% do-able if you read the book, attend lectures, and do ALL the book problems. The curve for his class is also super generous which is amazing. Utilize his office hours - he's so helpful and makes difficult concepts much more straightforward.

The course itself demands a lot of work, do the suggested problems and textbook readings. Clear lectures, participation is mandatory. and counts toward your grade. Has extra credit opportunities that help with a small boost. Tests are VERY fair to material covered in class, and he allows regrade requests with a written explanation.

Really solid lecturer and helpful during his office hours. Lewis was clear on what his exams were covered and imo they were all fair. Make sure you go to lecture, read the book, and do the txtbook problems. He also offers extra credit

Lewis is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students, his exams are fair as long as you do the book problems. Overall, this class was amazing! Definitely would take lewis again!

Prof Lewis is crazy, crazy good. Super helpful during office hours, and always tries to give students the maximum number of points possible. He has extra credit points, and re-grades tests himself. His tests are representative of book problems and Mastering Chemistry, which makes the homework less tedious. His lectures are slow and easy to follow.

You know they good when they get a 4.7 rating teaching only ochem. His handwriting is neat af and the explanations are great in lecture. Office hours also super helpful. Only thing is he needs to get active on reddit again :P

Very solid professor. He lectures very slowly and mostly uses the chalkboard when lecturing. His exams are very fair. I would definitely take this class with Lewis again.

He made the material easy to understand. Very fair exams. As long as you do all of the practice problems you're solid. Reading the book is a must to do well. Good choice for 109A.

Professor Lewis is the most incredible professor. He goes slow and writes everything out on the board. You leave the class actually understanding Ochem. His tests are long and free response, so it's important to manage time. Beware the last question on one test was worth fifteen points and I was unable to get to it don't make the same mistake.

Professor Lewis is one of my favorite professors to date. He will write out elaborate explanations for any question you have, even over email, and usually extremely quickly. You can tell he really wants his students to do well, and I'm so lucky to have taken one of his first taught courses here at UCSB. He comes across as very humble and caring.
