He is very nice and always there to help. Some of the assignments are confusing, but it is easy to ask questions. Lecture and sections are mandatory. Tests were difficult, but personal notes were allowed.
Personally hated the class because it was boring and extraordinarily disorganized. He assigned a reading reflection due the Friday of Thanksgiving that he gave the prompt for in class on Monday and then extended the deadline on Saturday, 24 hours after it was due. That said, it's an easy GE and you don't really need to do the readings.
LAIS 10 class: Professor Lupi doesn't even lecture, he has other professors from different departments lecture each week. 3 Essays for the entire quarter which sum up grade. Grading depends on TA . Section is mando with a group project. Do not take class if you cheeks at writing.
Easy class, skim books. Two online tests with multiple-choice questions and one essay question. one final essay, Weekly reading responses for a complete/incomplete grade. Attendance required passes around a physical sign-in sheet. Overall good class, easy A just complete and try everything
I loved class with Professor Lupi! He is very sweet, understanding, and genuinely wants the best for all of his students. My TA Vanessa was also amazing! Not the easiest GE I've ever taken, but it wasn't super hard at all! Highly recommend!
This class was unthinkable. Lupi is a very passionate professor. The class was very reading heavy. There were biweekly discussion posts, 4 online quizzes, 2 exams, and 1 paper. You can lowkey finesse not doing the readings but still getting a decent grade. It isn't the most easy GE but it suffices.
Professor Lupi is an amazing lecturer! He is engaging and wants the class to discuss the topics. It was the first time he taught SPAN52 and it was organized and and an exciting topic to learn about. There was lots of reading but no textbook. He also listened to us and took our suggestions for the class. An easy and interesting GE!
5 required books to read. Attendance taken at lecture, but you don't really need to attend to get a good grade. 1 paper along with 2 exams with multiple choice and long SAQs that were basically mini essays. Seemed like they were looking for really specific things in the SAQs, but didn't deduct a lot of points for the "mistakes."
He is a very enthusiastic and intellectual professor. The lectures are very low energy (although I accredit this more to an unenthusiastic student body), but the lectures are very interesting and pair nicely with the readings. The reading schedule is flexible, and the grading is light. He truly cares about his students and wants us to do well.
He is a very thoughtful and intelligent professor. His lectures are insightful and provide lots of information to go along with the readings. The readings aren't on a super strict timeline, so a lot of flexibility with reading speed. He cares about his students, and wants you to succeed.
I would highly recommend him! I was sick for on and off three weeks and he was very understanding in giving me extensions! Attendance is taken and the lectures can be kinda boring and sometimes seem pointless but I like hearing him talk about the readings. Grade consists of attendance, discussion, take home midterm, take home final essay, and exam.
Knowledgeable and accommodating professor. Workload varies depending on the class he teaches, but this one in particular was heavy in writing (weekly essays for weeks 3-6~), but was an easy grader if you're already a good writer. Can be intimidating class at first but you'll realize it's easy and you just have to get through the weekly workload.
Attendance required via iClicker but would not be valid if 1 minute late. Lectures felt wildly useless; prof was on a quarter-long tangent. Literally didn't take notes. TA essentially taught the course. Easy A in terms of tests/paper but absolutely insufferable otherwise. Don't take unless good for GEs; ONLY reason I didn't drop the course ASAP.
FOR CLIT30C. Professor was super engaging, supportive, and accommodating. Very inspirational and I love him. Take this man
Never met a professor with no amount of compassion. Really disliked him. Horrible human being.
overall very informational class, learned so much.
Professor Lupi is an amazing professor. He is very caring about his students and the material he is presenting, and he goes beyond to ensure we have a clear understanding of the material. There is a lot of reading because its a class about Sp-Am novelas, and there is an essay after each novel, but everything is doable. He is flexible & accomodating
I took Professor Lupi for Span 177 (Spanish-American Thought) and Span 169 (Spanish-Caribbean Literature/Culture), and I rave about these classes! As other reviews said, the readings are often dense/confusing, but his lectures are clarifying and you will learn a ton. Go to office hours for help w/ papers -- he's happy to help and super sweet!
I believe Andre is a fair grader. His class is not necessarily hard but you do have to give a little effort if you want to get an A. He is very understanding and accessible and his lectures are interesting. His feedback comments on papers are also helpful and detailed. I have learned a lot.
Truly cares about his students. Although his lectures are hard to follow, he is incredibly accommodating and understanding of everyone in the class.
His main goal in each class is for you to find a connection the readings and literature that are assigned to us. There is one short essay midterm, a presentation, and a final paper. The class is taught in Portuguese, but he will provide materials in English. It's a lot more interesting if you participate in the discussions. Small class sizes!
For this class, he has you write four short papers: two for the midterm and two for the final, worth 45% each. I really enjoyed the material he presented in the lecture and in the assigned readings. The problem with Lupi is that when he grades the does not give you feedback- which is a downside if you're trying to do better on your last two papers.
He is absolutely amazing! The class is not easy, but you will learn a lot and I would definitely recommend his class.
Interesting readings/topics. I didn't think he was a hard professor and his exams weren't too hard but apparently he's picky about grading. I wasn't too happy about the grade I received though I completed all the readings and seemed to do good on all exams.
