Don't need to say much since most people have already said. She is one of the best profs at UCSB. Super intelligent, hilarious, and caring. Very approachable and handled COVID effects very well. 10/10 would want her as a professor again.

My favorite professor at UCSB! She's hilarious, so lectures go by fast, and she really knows her stuff. I 'm way more critical of how I consume media on the daily; great material, but definitely a tough class- study. Due to COVID-19, she cancelled our final and gave a 2 week extension on a paper we had for around a month- very thoughtful.

Prof Holt has been one of my favorite professors / FAMST70 one of my favorite classes! Attendance not mandatory but nearly every lecture was full... never wanted to miss class she is an amazing lecturer. Really supportive of her students and their ideas

Holt is probably the best professor I will ever have. And this course will probably be the best most challenging class I'll ever take in my college career. No joke. It isn't an easy ride, but Holt makes it worth it. She gives the best lectures even though they aren't mandatory. She is truly inspiring and actually cares for us.

Prof. Holt is, hands down, one of the best professors I have had in three years of university education. I am not a film major, I took 70 just thinking it would be interesting. And oh, was it! Every lecture with Prof. Holt was a joy to listen to, she encourages class discussion and tries to make you think and reflect. Highly recommend 70!

Prof Holt is one of the most amazing people on the planet. She makes lectures super engaging and interesting and she is so funny and fun! Having a good TA makes a huge difference.

Professor Holt treated us all like adults and truly wanted us to be familiar, passionate, and comfortable with the class material to help us succeed in life, not just for a grade. She genuinely cares about every students' thoughts and opinions and is the most understanding and personable professor I have had.

Professor Holt genuinely cares about her students and is always accessible and wants her students to reach out to her. The class is also really interesting but is made a lot better by Holt's wit and humor. She canceled the final exam due to external factors that affected her students because she cares more about students' well-being than the exam.

By far one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are so intriguing because he does a great job of putting everyone in the proper mindset for each film. The movies he picks are also reeeeeally good. Plus he is fun to talk to.

Probably my favorite professor I've had at UCSB. Is incredibly passionate about what she talks about, is easily approachable. Would definitely recommend taking whatever class she teaches. Just do the readings and the two papers and you should be fine. She gives study guides with the midterm and final questions on them.

Jenny is one of my favorite teachers I have had so far at UCSB. Her lectures, although very long, are thought provoking. I found the course material as interesting and engaging. The class can be rather tough since your grade is mainly determined on essays regarding your knowledge of the material. You can get by without reading the articles.

Prof Holt is a very opinionated and interesting person. Her lectures are fun and up to date. But as a professor she isn't that good. She cancelled her office hours almost every week. And when she did have office hours, she was not helpful at all. And in the end it all depends on what TA you get. To help you, give you feedback and grade your work.

He is my favorite professor at UCSB. So passionate and so knowledgeable about film. He's so easy to talk to and he's so helpful. Everything is easy as long as you go to lectures and understand the concepts and ideas of each of the readings.

Ross Melnick is one of the best professors I've had so far. Not only is he incredibly nice and handsome, but he is extremely helpful in understanding the material and keeps his lectures interesting. He also showed excellent films all quarter, some of which have become my favorites.

Ross is a great lecturer and loves talking about films, but sometimes overloads with too much information. We watched films everyday which shortened lecture times considerably, but the films were all mostly great. Recommend talking to him in office hours as he loves talking to his students and investing in their lives. Don't use cellphone in class!

Great professor! She is goofy and funny and made the class interesting. LOVES interspecies relationships and often showed clips. Subject matter was interesting. Barely read and ended up with a B+. Would definitely recommend any class of hers.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. This class blew my mind. The information is super relevant and applicable to your life. I feel like this course should be required for everyone to take because the material covered is so important. And Holt is such a bad ass and she's hilarious.

This was the first course he taught at UCSB. He was enthusiastic and knew so much about the film industry and trends. On the last day, we watched Cinema Paradiso. Can't wait to take 101C with him.

Truly one of the greatest professors I've had, and I have had many I overload every quarter. Finally a prof who understands that being funny, interesting, and passionate makes it easier for students to learn. Learned more and remembered more than any class ever. She is a great person, will do anything to help you if you put in the effort

The best professor I have had at UCSB. It's a demanding class with lecture 3 times a week but Melnick is such a great lecturer, I was ALWAYS looking forward to it. He is intelligent and helpful and I would highly recommend going to his office hours or just talking to him after class. It is really obvious he wants all his students to do well & cares

The class was a seminar and boy were the expectations high. She always had a critique about everything that was said by any of us, made me feel unintelligent. A Lot of readings, and participation is a must, and as said before she is a tough grader.
