Wrobel is a greattt lecturer. He is easy to understand, good at explaining concepts, open to all questions, and overall really chill. He posted readings every week but I barely read any of them as he explains everything in class well. Earth 10 is a very do-able GE with him.
Professor Alex Wrobel is genuinely one of the nicest and most caring professors. He cares about his job and his student's success, and gives his best effort to guide students and present information in a clear and interesting manner.
I loved this class. One of my favs yet. Professor Wrobel is clearly so passionate about the topics he teaches and it really makes a difference in the class environment. The powerpoints were posted and the exam questions were all taken from the powerpoints. Labs were easy. Overall such an easy class but also so interesting I learned so much.
Alex is an incredible professor who genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. He encourages students to interrupt him during lecture to ask questions and is very clear when explaining the material. You get two front and back sheets for the final and he provides a study guide as an outline for the cheat sheets.
Alex is such a kind and funny guy and makes his lectures very interesting. Sections are a little more difficult than lecture content since they dive into more specifics, but not too difficult. The weekly quizzes are very easy and the cheat sheets he allows for the midterm and final are very helpful. Overall an easy and interesting class!
Favorite professor so far. Lectures are engaging, he is super understanding, and work load is very managable. Take his class!!
Amazing professor !! Funny and kind, plus super engaging. Not too difficult if you pay attention and take good notes !! Very light and manageable workload. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in learning about Earth sciences !!
A very nice guy, pretty easy class
Wrobel is an amazing professor. Super caring and knowledgeable. There are weekly labs in addition to class and they take attendance with a QR code. You have to turn in assignments during labs to help grasp the information during lecture. Midterm and final were pretty difficult, but you get a one page front and back cheat sheet
He was great! Made everything straightforward and the class isn't too bad if you have good cheat sheets.
Prof. Wrobel is passionate and very funny, but the class can be challenging. There are two midterms, a final, and worksheet labs. Exams are multiple choice with cheat sheets, yet still difficult. He moves quickly, and study guides aren't very helpful. If you are not a science person and seeking an easy GE, this is not the class for you.
I really loved him as a professor, he is clearly very passionate and makes his lectures engaging. However, i attended every single lecture and studied so much and still received a B because 2 midterms and 1 final make up 60% of the grade and there were some gotcha questions. Id still take his class again!
LOVED professor Wrobel and his class. Although it was a lot, it was manageable and my TA was awesome. He's such an engaging lecturer and feels really approachable and accessible outside of class. Attendance isn't mandatory but the info from lectures is so important so definitely show up. Taking his other LD class next quarter and very excited.
He's an amazing professor and super charismatic, but the tests are pretty hard and really based on memorization and concept knowledge
If you want an easy GE this is not the class for you! I wish I would've known before. His lectures are extremely heavy and exams are multiple choice which can mess you up since they don't make much sense.
Such a nice guy! Attendance wasn't mandatory, but slides are picture heavy, it definitely helps to listen to the lectures. He seems passionate about his work and it shows.
Alex is a great guy! I'm not a STEM major, so I found the material challenging, but he helped me understand the concepts during Office Hours and via email. Labs and quizzes are easy, but the final/2 midterms are difficult if you struggle applying concepts (which I do). A good GE.
Very relaxed environment and always making jokes to try and make lectures interesting. Weekly quizzes and section help keep your grade up if you fail both midterms, like I did, and final was online which he says is rare. The topics can be difficult to understand but he was a great professor that you shouldn't have a tough time passing the class.
His lectures were mostly pretty interesting, attendance was not mandatory. but if you want to go good go to class. He had weekly quizzes which required you to listen to a podcast. The class was very fair please take a class with him he is such a nice person. I went to his office hours just for advice about life and he was so welcoming and sweet.
just dont. got perfect scores on my weekly assignments but didnt do well on the tests which is what screwed my grade
If you want to take an easy GE I'd say avoid taking this class. He is a nice professor but this class consists of a lot of info especially if you're not into science or chem. Test are all multiple choice but even if you study, most of them won't make sense and are often worded differently. Readings every week and are long.
Alex's lectures were really engaging and made me actually start to enjoy Oceanography as a polisci major, HOWEVER, on every test there were like 10 questions that we had barely/didn't cover making it almost impossible to get an A in the class. Weekly quizzes were fine but the newly added podcasts were annoying and confusing in question format.
Make sure you read the textbook and ask for help. I would not recommend this as an easy GE. Tests are all multiple choice so it can be a good or bad thing.
Alex wrobel is my king this class slayed boots he is awesome pls take him! Take handwritten notes and do your cheat sheet and you'll be fine on the exams
