Katie is the best professor I have had in my entire college career. She is a fantastic lecturer, she is engaging, funny, interesting, and does a great job integrating course material into conversations of real world situations. She's extremely knowledgeable and is very eager to chat with students. Take her classes! She's the best.

Literally the Lebron of Profs. Easy class, interesting lectures, extremely helpful, and very personable. I genuinely don't think it's possible to be a better prof than this.

Love Dr. Elder! Her lectures were so fun and she obviously cares so much about her students. 3 tests throughout the quarter but if you study the study guide given to us they are so easy. Final paper was trickier and my TA wasn't that helpful and confused me more, but I got it done eventually. I recommend for an easy GE!

Extremely nice professor who cares about her students. Her lectures were fun and engaging, and actually showed how concepts are shown in the real world. She had three quizzes, which were light, occasional writing assignments, and a 6-8 paper, which was honestly not that bad. If you want an easy GE, take her.

My favorite professor so far at UCSB. She is seriously the best, and I learned so much. There is 3 tests throughtout the quarter and a big 8 page final paper. Other small assignments as well

Katie is an excellent professor. Her lectures are engaging and blend key terms with helpful videos that make concepts easy to understand. The class has three tests and one final paper, all manageable if you attend lectures. I'd gladly take another class with her.

Professor Elder was one of the best professors that I've had. The lectures were interesting, and the homework assignments were clear and not too difficult. I would highly recommend her COMM 1 class. You can tell she cares about her students and is passionate about what she teaches.

Elder is a super caring professor. The first midterm was super fair for what we've learned. There's 3 noncumulative midterms and a final paper. She's super helpful to her students and makes material easy to understand

I took COMM 156: Health Promotion with Professor Elder and I absolutely loved the class and her. I had a lot of outside stuff going on and wasn't able to take the midterm on time and she was super flexible and understanding which I was not expecting. Her lectures are super engaging and she makes it easy to do well in the class.

If you get a chance to learn from Professor Katherine Elder, do it. Taking this class was the best decision I've ever made in my college experience. She structures class and papers in a way where students can actually learn. It is also apparent that she deeply cares about each and every one of her students. Love her!

I loved this class sm. Very easy weekly readings with a short writing. All exams are online. Lectures were fun and engaging and I laughed at least once per class. Katie is very chill and an amazing prof.

One of my favorite classes I've taken at UCSB. Her lectures are very video clip heavy, which helped in understanding the concepts being discussed. It also made class enjoyable as a lot of the clips were from some popular movies and tv shows. Her exams were online and open-note, which helped with taking some of the pressure off the class.

Wow. All I can say is that Prof. Elder was my favorite professor. She got her point across and made the content very easy to learn and understand. Please please if you have the opportunity to take a class with her DO IT!!! She is just the best and I wish I could take every class with her as my Professor.

I had this professor for both COMM 1 and COMM 87 and I LOVED her classes. She is super engaging and makes little jokes in her lectures and connects them to little things about herself like her true crime obsession and her cats. She is very transparent about what is going to be on exams and fully prepares you for them. Honestly my fav professor.

one of the best professors at ucsb. super engaging lectures and made me look forward to attending class despite it being at 9:30 am. she connects a lot of the content to current media which makes it easier to remember. not a homework-heavy class at all and consisted of one writing assignment a week. midterm and final were both online at home.

She's amazing. Her personality and teaching style made learning stats enjoyable (like fr), and I would definitely take any other classes she's teaching.
