Professor Westmacott's class is the happiest writing class I have taken in UCSB. She has the ability to make tedious writing work to interesting things. You will explore and try lots of new things in her LING12: writing memoir, writing poem, field research, etc. Also, she is not a tough grader. As long as you work hard, you will get an A.
Yes, yes, she is a tough grader; it took me a lot of time (twice as much as a major class) to get an A in that class, but I learned a lot in her class, which made me preform well in the following writing classes. You'll receive detailed feedback and get help from her, work hard! I strongly recommend taking her class in a quarter w/out lots of class
Great professor! She gives high grades, and only a few homework.
she is nice but too mean on grading
Her class is useless in terms of improving your writing. Tough grader. Dont waste your time.
I loved this class!
I never do rate my professor before because I don't want to comment on a teacher subjectively. And I didn't follow my friends' suggestion of avoiding her either. It turns out terrible grades and lots of papers. She has 2 papers and each of them has 3 drafts, including lots of in-class writing.
Not a good teacher. Give you a low grade without any proper reasons.
Nice teacher, but really tough grader. Also, too much in-class writing and hw.
I learned a lot about writing in this class.
Great class to take! She explains class materials and gives instructions clearly which is easy to understand for international students! Great improvement on essay skills gradually from the first paper to the last.
She is kind and she does a good job teaching students how to write.
I liked the way she teaches.
good class
I enjoyed this class.
I learned a lot.
Great class.
Too many homework including some strange tasks. No extra credit. No feedback before grading. Boring classes. Many in-class quizes.
She will give you more assignments than any other professors, and give you a low grade for extremely weird reasons.
She will just give you a very low grade without any suggestions before grading. She will also give you a lot of assignments and papers to do.
Very Nice professor, make sure you follow the rubric, she is very approachable.
I really like professor Bowman, she is very caring and respected.
She will give you Rubrics for each paper, go to her office hours and CLAS, and you will be fine
Bowman really cares about her students, she is very nice and gave you a lot of feedbacks on your writing. I think She is the best professor in UCSB. You just need to put in the work and you will get an A
