First time having her and she isn't as bad as these reviews make her out to be. Definitely attend lecture because stuff on slides alone isn't enough, she adds great detail to them. There's a paper draft, final draft, one 5pt assignment, and a mc midterm and cumulative final that make up your grade. Try to keep up w readings otherwise they pile up.

professor gonzales is really nice and funny, but her classes are very paper and test heavy! be prepared to write and do a lot of readings. however, her tests are pretty straightforward (just really long). i honestly like her and would take a course with her again!

While Gonzales is sweet, her lecturers drag on and are a real snoozer. The slides are very vague and you basically have to write down everything she says which can be difficult as she goes on tangents. Tests aren't terrible, but the essays are challenging. Definitely try to avoid.

Probably my least favorite professor I've ever had. Her lectures are uninteresting, and her exams and papers are overly complicated. It's clear that she is only here for research and doesn't put as much effort into actually helping students learn. Save yourself the absolute headache that is this professor and take something else.

One of the least engaging professors I've had at UCSB. Her lectures are hard to pay attention to because they are flat-out uninspiring and boring. She essentially just talks at the class for 75 minutes. Her class is not structured well at all. She seems like a nice person but not a good professor.

Professor Gonzales is not the best lecturer. Her entire course is based off of memorizing information from readings which are usually between 40-60 pages per week of dense material. Not only that but she will change the rubric of her papers despite the syllabus stating stating something entirely different. Unfair grading, boring, and repetitive.

I'm not sure why this professor doesn't have better reviews! She is one of the few at UCSB who comes from a similar generation and understands student ideology. Her lectures were very organized and she made her points excellently clear, even telling you each detailed points you need to know for exams. I had a wonderful experience in her course !

Class is definitely not easy, get ready to read and take good notes on her lectures to get a good grade on her exams. Her exams were tough however I really enjoyed her lectures and the concepts we learned in class. Her lectures were enjoyable and she seems like a great person overall.

Gonzales is an awesome teacher and cares about her students, but I think she grades WAY too hard. Her exams are difficult and despite the curve few people got As on them. Lectures are dense and sometimes confusing, but the class topic itself is also complicated. Class is two exams and one paper plus an extra small assignment.

Professor Gonzales is definitely a professor at UCSB who is there primarily for research purposes rather than teaching purposes. However, I found her to be very understanding and the material for the class is very interesting!

This class was interesting, but Gonzales made it way harder than it had to be. Test questions were phrased poorly, study guides and grades were rarely posted on time, and the TA gave no constructive feedback on the papers. I learned a lot, but it honestly wasnt worth the stress.

Took her comm184. course content is super interesting and relatable. I did get more in-depth understandings of the role that social media plays in real life, which is way more complicated than I was thinking of. fairly challenging course. Somehow hard to understand the material, tricky test questions. Glad I took it but won't take it again

Professor Gonzales is a great professor in the means of getting major points across and is just overall good at teaching. However, she teaches with her own political standings. There are a few chapters in the textbook that she teaches based on her views completely. If you don't want to hear somebody go off on tangents about their views keep looking
