Do what he asked and keep up with reading assignments along with lectures, you will learn a lot of interesting facts about brain as well as pass the class. Professor Goard really cares about the students and wants them to learn. He is very straightforward with his expectations.

One of the best professors I've had for a biology class here. Lectures are easy to follow and well-organized. Concepts are clear, and he's very responsive when something in the class needs adjusting or clarification. Weekly structure is great -- there's one mandatory participation lecture, and one discussion section where you can ask questions.

Really enjoyed this class. Two asynchronous lectures a week, optional discussions, and 8 out of 10 mandatory problem sets during class. The problem sets were very helpful and graded very easily (as long as you got 50% or more you would receive credit). The only downside was that zoom meetings (discussions and problem sets) were not recorded.

Professor Goard is by far one of the best professors I've had in the Biology department. While this class is definitely lecture heavy, if you go over the material and follow along the class isn't hard at all. He definitely made a difficult subject easy to understand and appreciate! Great class and prof!!

One of the nicest professors, he genuinely wants all his students to do well and that's why the majority of his students get A's, he makes it easy. However, he's too smart to be lecturing, it's just not for him, lecture is too long and he repeats himself constantly and it gets monotonous.

This is truly a professor who cares about his students and their learning experience. He is clear, organized, and professional. Everything presented in class is interesting and relevant. The readings are very understandable and well coordinated with the lectures. You must read, you must attend lecture, and you must put in effort, but it is worth it

His class has the WORST structure. You have a quiz, then lecture, and then take a group quiz on the lecture material. ALSO, for exams, first you have lecture for an hour, and then the exam includes what was covered in the lecture.... how he expects people to memorize information as it comes out of his mouth is beyond me.

Great professor, great class! Tough but I learned much more in this course than any other Biopsych UD.

Hard class but curved. A lot of reading. Would take again. Make sure to do well on reading responses and in class work, it helps in the end.

Amazing lecturer. I learned SO MUCH in this class, really interesting material. It is a difficult course but he does curve it in the end. I feel like he wanted everyone to do well. Make sure you get a good group to do the in class work with because that can make or break your grade unfortunately as he does not randomly assign groups.

Janusonis is one of the smartest and most inspirational professors I had at UCSB. He presents some real existential ideas and then engages your interest by grappling with them through a neuroscience lens. I had him for 2 classes prior, but 113L was unique and super fun. I'm so glad he offers a class to learn some programming for psych majors

Great upper div class with such a chill prof. Only graded by midterm and final. Both are easy if you do the readings and his assigned article Q's (he uses them as exam Q's). First half of the material's kinda dull, but gets better after midterm. Generous grading scale makes it even easier to get a good grade - 85 cutoff for solid A, 75 a B, etc.

He is a great professor. The material is not the easiest but he presents it in the best way possible. The course itself was very interesting. Amazing instructor I wish I could have taken more classes with him. Tests are straightforward. Midterm and Final also an A- is like an 85%

LOVE LOVE LOVE this man. Lectures fly by because I am literally hanging on his every word. So intelligent, so well-organized and Dr. Janusonis articulates his intelligence in such a meaningful and digestible way. Take any opportunity to take a class with this man - I promise you will leave inspired and in awe of what you have taken in!

The best psychology professor teaching the best psychology course if you are a biopsychology major or interested in the brain. Up to date information, clear presentation, lecture slides and reading study guides posted online. I've never been more drawn into a course than this one. 11/10.

Take this class with Skirmantas if you are going to take the MCDB series, he explains complicated concepts in an amazingly simple and clear way; I still remember and USE the things he taught in all my other bio classes. Love this guy!

Really awesome and straight-forward professor. If you know the lectures by heart the tests should be pretty easy. I like his teaching style and the test questions are not there to trick you. If you go to office hours he will go into more details and little tangents, but overall great professor! Would take another class from him.

He makes hard material very comprehensible. Go to lecture and take notes on what he says. His review sheets are accurate to the tests and the tests are very straightforward you just have to put in the time and effort. And I'm not a sciencey person at all so I got a 75% on the midterm, but studied really hard for the final and got a 89%. It's doable

Awesome and crazy smart guy, and a very fair grader. Do what he says (as far as studying is concerned), look at the slides and do the reading and you'll do fine on the tests.

166 is a must take course for any biopsych student. He teaches the course based on the most current research findings and will encourage you to think critically about complex topics. He's clearly passionate about the material he lectures on and will make you want to attend class. The course also isn't hard to succeed in, which makes it even better.

I love Janusonis. He is brilliant and I promise will introduce you to something you have probably never heard of. He is unique from all the other Professor's in the biopsych department. Try to take any UD class he offers. He isn't hard, but more importantly what he teaches is fascinating.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Professor gives very interesting additional material alongside course required info and obviously is very knowledgeable and interested in this info. I definitely recommend going to office hours and taking full advantage of the book and professor, you'll be surprised by how much this info comes in handy!

For a class that covers so much material, Janusonis does an awesome job. He's open to answering any questions and very approachable. He provides review sheets prior to tests. He makes difficult topics really easy to understand. As long as you attend lecture and pay attention you should be fine. The text can also be helpful for clarification.
