Prof Shell was an an amazing professor. He was very clear with what he wanted us to know and his exams were very similar to the assigned homework problems. He's very witty, and it was always interesting to listen to him talk. (It also doesn't hurt that he is very, very attractive!)

Great guy, but gives so much homework. He's new though, so he'll probably get better. Good at explaining things, and you'll learn a lot. The class itself isn't hard, it's the workload that kills you.

Helgeson is definitely still getting used to teaching, and he does tend to go overboard on homework/exam depth and quantity, but he is still a much better than average engineering professor. He is also very approachable and provides extra resources. Heat transfer is not the hardest class by any means but the sheer work load was unforeseeable.

Super nice guy, very helpful. He's pretty unorganized though, mistakes in all his notes, lectures, and homeworks all over the place - makes things kind of confusing. His homework and tests are LONG. Homework takes up almost your whole week. But, you'll definitely learn. It's still his first year teaching, so he'll definitely get better.

Helpful, prepared, friendly, approachable. Quite reasonable with grading as well.

He's really nice and helpful. Go to office hours and ask him questions whenever you want and he will do his best to help you. Take him if you can. He's my favorite professor at UCSB so far.

He is extremely devoted to making sure everyone understands thermodynamics. He goes out of his way to clarify everything explicitly. The homeworks are moderately long but very relevant, don't be afraid to use office hours. Friendly and probably best professor I have had yet.

Great professor, he somehow makes chemical engineering understandable. He's just totally awesome.

Shell's one of the best professor's you're ever going to get. He is always prepared for lecture, very clear, and explains things at a level you can understand. Tests are actually really straightforward. Added perk: not too hard on the eyes.

He is a great teacher. He makes you work hard, but in a good way. The homeworks are a clear representation of what he expects on the test, but he is not evil and wont make you do horrible thiings.

Shell is a great Professor. He explains everything clearly and makes you understand everything on a fundamental level. Before I took the class, I hated thermo and never really understood it. Now, I love it and I understand it very well. Also, the ladies claim he is hot...

During lectures, Professor Shell was clear and concise. However, trying to communicate with him during the quarter was difficult. Also, his way of stating things simply in class was way different than what was expected on midterms and the final.
