Kunkel is AMAZING!!! By far my favorite out of all of the Chem prof. But she is extraordinarily great at explaining things to students. I looked forward to going to her class, and I actually understood what I was doing in ALEKS, before I needed to do the topics. LOVE HER!! & I love what she said before every test... "Good luck! I believe in you!!!"
She indeed teaches well. (You must attend class since she hand rites everything on the board. no slides available online) Im not sure if its only me who felt this way but she seemed a lil cocky, not easy to approach, didnt want to help students out. Its cuz she didnt really try to listen to me everytime i had a question. hard tests.
She explains things like one doesn't know the material, making it easier to understand and apply
Amazing professor! Presents information very clearly and wants her students to do well in the class. I highly recommend doing the book problems and her past quizzes and exams that she provides on gauchospace. Take her class if you can!
I had Dr. Kunkel as a professor for Chem 1A. She was very funny and always kept us interested. She also offered many ways to help us with our grades! I passed with a B, considering I never took AP chem in high school. If you try really hard, she will pass you!
Kunkel is a great professor. She really works so that students understand the material and that everyone passes her class. If you have her think yourselves lucky!!
Great lecturer! She uses the chalboard which is much more effective than any powerpoints. Also she is funny! If you have to take chemistry and you hate the subject or even if you love it, Kunkel is the professor you want to have.
kunkel is AWESOME!! I hated chemistry in high school and cried when i found out i had to take it for my major. i actually enjoyed biking to campus at 5 pm to her class. she's so funny and the class goes by so fast. you learn a lot and she really wants you to succeed. tests are lengthy but she warns you beforehand. do book problems. LOVED HER!!!!
Love Kunkel, easier chemistry teacher than Feldwinn. She is super chill and wants you to pass the class. Doesn't make it harder than it already is. Definitely recommended.
I love Kunkel! Great professor and fair class. Go to lecture and CLAS, study hard and you will do well. And... DON'T PANIC!
Kunkel is probably the easiest teacher I've ever had. Her tests are remarkably easy compared to the other chem teachers and she goes over tons of examples in class. if you want an easy A but not really learn much chem take her.
Professor Kunkel is a true character. Her lectures brighten up the subject and engages her students. She is fairly lenient in grading and her tests are not too challenging. Pleasure to be in her class!
Bryanna Kunkel is a fun an interesting teacher here on campus. Her dry yet funny sense of humor keeps students captivated with her lectures and I enjoy attending her class each day.
Professor Kunkel is a pretty good teacher overall. I recommend taking her Chem class over the others because she is a very easy grader in comparison to the other professors (from what I have heard).
Low ratings are because the course itself is difficult, she teaches well. Don't be fooled— ALEKS is NOT optional, the grade boost is a lifesaver. Exams are hard but 90% of exam problems are ~identical to textbook ones. Grind the heck out of those and you'll do well. Her lecture videos are confusing— Joseph has good vids on yt, or just google it.
Sylvester isn't the worst but definitely isn't the best. Her first midterm and final were very difficult and different from her practice tests, although her second midterm was much more easier and doable. She explains concepts at a very basic level so make sure to do ALL book problems more than once as well as the optional ALEKS to pass.
Good prof! Had her for Chem 1A and 1B, wanted her for 1C. Lectures are fast paced & she writes only on the chalkboard, but videos very similar to the lectures are available for review. Goes over easier problems than you'll see on the exam but provides many extra study materials w/questions VERY similar to the exam. Content is hard, be ready.
The class moves at a fast pace, and although I got a C in the class, I could have put in more effort to study for the midterms. She is very organized and has everything set up in canvas for you to get help or review different topics that are taught. In order to succeed in the class, you need to utilize the book problems and practice tests.
ms girl is so passive aggressive when you ask questions like... and her tests had curveballs like sometimes it deviates from what she says but shes not horrible I'd choose to learn from her compared to some of the other professors.
Beware of taking this class async during the summer!! Recorded lectures from COVID era, so probably little time and resources for Sylvester to prepare these then. Handwriting and videos can be hard to understand, a couple things not taught that were on tests. Overall seems like a nice person, but definitely take this class in person if possible.
I took Chem1A and B with Joseph and 1C with Sylvester. Personally I like Joseph's lecture style better than Sylvester's, but frankly speaking she is also definitely one of the best gen chem lecturers. Very organized. Although she talks very fast, so it takes some time to adapt to it. Midterms are very easy and the final is significantly harder.
Love her. She's great, easy midterms but insanely hard final. Super kind and funny person. Hard just because it's Chem, and there's wasn't really a curve because our midterms were so easy (80&86 avg).
Her lectures are organized and there are videos posted online which is nice. The midterms were chill but the final was significantly harder so be prepared for that (do the book problems!). The final can replace your lowest midterm score and the class is curved at the end which is nice. If you put in the work, you can be successful in this class!
She teaches very fast, so I recommend skipping lectures and just watching the pre-recorded ones on the Canvas page. The first two exams are easy and exactly like the practice tests on Canvas. However, the final was unnecessarily hard, and unlike the first two midterms. I had an A coming into the final, and ended up with a B+ which sucks.
