Cho is an awesome person and really cares about his students. The small class size meant that students often had the space and time to discuss and debate. The assignments consist of weekly discussion board posts and readings, as well as two essays and participation. The workload and assignments were very easy and the class was a breath of fresh air
Very nice and understanding. I would recommend him, his lectures are intriguing and the way he structures class makes it so your grade isn't depended on one of two things. I've taken two of his classes, definitely have to read, but cna get away with skimming. It all comes down to a group project, weekly quizzes and a final paper.
This is Cho's first year teaching at UCSB and he's pretty great! Class was super interesting and great discussions in lecture. Readings can be long sometimes, but they're not horrible and aren't hard. Responds to emails fast. 40% participation (attendance and discussion boards), 20% quizzes based on lectures/readings, 15% midterm and 25% final.
The best professor I've ever had. The course material was really interesting and inspirational. The grading policy is also very good. Want to take this course again.
Slides are not posted anywhere so you have to attend lectures.
AsAm8 with Professor Cho was my favorite class I've taken yet. Definitley attend lecture because the slides aren't posted online but lecture is never boring. Quizzes are easy as long as you do the readings. Study guides are given for midterm and final but study beyond that as well. Would def take the class again!
Professor Cho is a really good lecturer! The readings are usually short and if you just skim them you'll know enough to write the discussion posts. If you want to do good on the weekly quizzes definitely go to lecture. The content is also interesting and he tries his best to make it relevant to students.
This class was really fun, informative, and easy. Section is mandatory but participation isn't. There is 1 midterm and a final that were multiple choice and short answers. Very doable if you go to class and skim the readings.
Cho's lectures were amazing! Slides super informative and he always gave examples via videos and photos. Goes into depth on concepts and weekly quizzes are easy as long as you took notes during lecture and skimmed the readings. The end of the class was moved online, but he made lecture recordings and any media shown very accessible.
Prof Cho is a good GE professorlectures could get a bit boring (even as a social science person) and you can tell he gets grumpy with the class sometimes, but altogether the course is fair, interesting, and worth taking if intersectional issues are your thing.
Professor Cho is a wonderful person and teacher. He makes the course very interesting and with very minimal work. There are no papers, and the midterm and final are both online and open note. It is so far so easy and enjoyable. Take it for your ethnicity requirement.
I loved Professor Cho's class! Lectures are very short 15 mins but very to the point and easy to understand. Provides all readings! Weekly disc post and MC quiz super easy if you read and take notes on lec. Midterm and final were just like quizzes but more questions and a few short answer. He was also very inclusive in his material. Take him!!!
