Best writing profesor at UCSB. Works around your schedule, gives plenty of time to do assignments, gives you helpful comments, and makes class entertaining. TAKE HER.

She's a great professor! She explains what you need to do in a nutshell. There is no ambiguity in her instructions. Just do what she says. This is no normal writing class. Expect to write some concise and brief papers. She will have you write many memos. She is very helpful if you are having trouble brainstorming. Take her class!

Professor Stansell is one of the top 3 professors I've had in three years at UCSB so far. If you have to take a writing course, TAKE IT WITH HER! She helped me even when I had a two week medical issue and let me have an extension. A truly good person and teacher.

I absolutely LOVED this professor! I didn't want to take a writing class this quarter because of the work overload, but I decided to do so and was really happy about it. She's extremely helpful and available for office hours.

Great prof. Cares abt students, helpful w/ editing and paper comments. Workload is not too bad despite the 15 pg research paper due at the end bc the it is spread out well. For ppl like me who tend to procrastinate, this class forces you to do the work little by little. Just don't fall behind though.

She is so great, incredibly helpful, and really improves the quality of your writing. I definitely recommend taking writing with her. Class was linked to Soc1, which made it helpful in understanding Soc as well.

Best teacher I've had yet. She really cares for all of the students and is one of those teachers who takes her work beyond the classroom walls. She will go out of her way to help you, but she is veerrry perceptive, so don't try to dupe her, she'll read right through you!

Great Professor. Very Easy Class. Basically, your grade depends on 2 assignments, but you get to write about whatever you want. Answers questions, is patient, teaches well, highly recommended.

Really liked Stansell. I have some background in writing research papers, so this class wasn't as useful as it was for others. Either way, she definitely has made me a better writer. She's a very patient individual, something that's important when you're trying to revise papers. Definitely recommended.

Don't fall behind or its a lot of work to catch up. Keep on top of things and this class is cake.

Useful assignments and she's eager to help you improve your writing. Had little/no interest in this class but had to take something for the writing minor. She helped me adapt the syllabus to make the class worthwhile. No textbook! Loose project/paper deadlines. No midterm. No real final (email in project). One in class presentation. Very nice prof.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Knowledgeable, helpful, caring. She doesn't assign useless assignments and makes you learn. The whole quarter, your group works on a product proposal that ends up about 30-40 pages. Not as bad as it seems, though. Stansell is very approachable. Highly recommended!

She is just an amazing professor - one of those rare teachers of great quality. She is incredibly understanding, helpful, and caring. I'm learning many things, all of which are much more useful than any high school Lit AP style class I've taken. You're lucky to get her!

She is very helpful and a very fair grader. She seems like she has a lot of experience. Also, the only material needed is the reader, which is only $12!

Such a boring class. You shouldn't take this class if you are econ major because it's a waste of time.

Dr. Stansell is great. She is so nice and helpful. I plan on taking her again this next quarter for writ 109ss. I highly recommend her.

even though my rating comes with a happy face, it doesn't reflect the truth because: the class is too easy to really for us to learn anything. If you want an easy A, just like in a high school class, you'll get that.

She is a great professor. Probably the most helpful prof I have had. Just make sure you do all the work on her schedule and meet with her in her office hours! And go to class. Definatly take her if you have the chance.

very helpful teacher. she's not AS easy as i thought she'd be but she's a reasonable grader. she's very clear on what she expects but she's also very understanding. very good teacher; take her if you get the chance!

It's pretty hard to get an A in her class, but she let us leave early a lot, and if you had any questions she was always there to help. She's not the easiest grader but she's not the hardest. She understands we have other classes and other work so she doesn't assign busy work like other writ classes

Stansell is an alright teacher. There's a lot of reading and she gives reading quizes once in a while. She has canceled class a few times which is a plus and she is pretty helpful. She offered to find me sources on my research project for me.
