Professor V was one of the best I've come across at UCSB. She is so helpful, always emails back quickly - her lectures are extremely interesting and she's very fair and clear about her grading criteria. Class is graded based on one midterm, a final, and a paper. Do the work to study for the midterm and final and take good notes and you'll do well.

A caring professor . The structure of online course is interesting since half of the lectures are from guest speakers. She clarifies things pretty well with coherent examples. Tests are based on explaining the concepts, pay attention to the lectures, and make notes and study guide in advance. Also a research paper to reflect on what you learnt

Pretty easy class if you go to class and take notes. The midterm and final arent too bad, but definitely require a day or two of solid studying. The map quizzes are really easy ways to boost your grades. Didnt read the book much and did well without it, but its a good supplement to lecture. I got a A- mostly just by paying attention for lecture.

She's a really straight forward lecturer. Which I really like. If you go to class, you will get an A. Very fair and very interesting class!

Professor Vanderwarker moves fast, but you never feel left behind. She is truly an amazing teacher. She makes you work a little for your grade, as in you actually have to pay attention in class, but overall she's such a good teacher her classes are relatively easy.

This class is fairly easy. You can tell that she enjoys teaching this subject. There are 5 tests however. 2 map quizzes, 1 book quiz, 1 midterm and the final. Can be a bit much, but the smaller quizzes can really help to improve your grade. Easy class, if you come to class and read the textbooks you'll pass with an A.

Class was a breeze. If you go to lecture and read her book you can expect an A. Exams and quizzes are straightforward and are designed to help and not hurt your grade. She understands and empathizes with you as a student. Great Prof

midterm, final, book quiz, 2 map quiz. kind of a lot of studying. need to read the whole book she wrote. shes nice but talks fast in lecture. lecture slides are pointless. willing to help

if you do the reading the class is very easy, but not necessary. The lecture slides are available online, and are a great study guide. If you study you will pass with an A, if not you will get a B. She is very helpful, if you miss something or do not understand something she will explain it, even on her online office hours.

She is very nice and a great teacher. If you went to class and took notes, you would do just fine on the test without reading much of the textbook. Overall, I really enjoyed this class.

very nice woman. She knows everything there is to know about Mesoamerica. You have 3 Map Quizes(nice because you can pull up your grade by these easy quizes). midterm is mutiple choice, matching and map.Final is the same make up and is worth 35% of your grade. She wrote a mandartory book. NOT TO DIFFICUlT CLASS! MUST STUDY ALL SLIDES.TAKE HER CLASS

This class is both easy and useful. As long as you do the assignments you get the credit. She gives you incredibly valuable information and feedback and is super accessible. Takes time to truly get to know each student and personally looks over and grades all of the word she assigns. If you have the opportunity - take her class!

I had Prof V for Grad School/Job Prep in the spring of 2024 and honestly the class could not have been more useful OR more easy to pass. As long as you do the work- which you will be thanking yourself in the future for doing- you will pass. She really wants students to have a realistic and accurate perception of their options in the future.

I TOOK ANTH-182 BUT IT WASN'T AN OPTION. We were online way longer than we were supposed to be which screwed up the quarter and isn't her fault but this class was hard. Not given much instruction on stats programs, assignments have nothing to do with lectures or final. Allows you to fix old assignments though. She's nice but can be abrasive!

Professor Vanderwaker was really sweet and genuinely wants to help her students find their path. This class was absurdly easy and I would definitely recommend it. Put in thought and turn stuff in on time to get an easy A. Peer group meetings were annoying but easy. Attendance not mandatory or necessary to get an A. Final was a short mock interview.

Prof. VanDerwarker really cares about her students! The material was tough at times, but she makes herself available in her lab whenever needed for questions. Graded on labs and 3 tests. Show up to class, absorb the material, and ask questions for clarification. Lecture-heavy and has helpful PowerPoints, take good notes when she's giving examples!

good luck, this class is insanely hard and her instructions are way too vague.
