I highly, highly, highly recommend Saur for writing. You are graded based on your improvement rather than your skill level, which I find to be so fair. She gives great feedback on your papers and all of the writing assignments were fun. Just by doing the absolute bare minimum, you are guaranteed a B.

Best writing Professor!

She is the BEST WRITING PROFESSOR I've known!!! Wish I could select all the cheerful tags because those fit her!!! Her class is so unique and exciting. She is always enthusiastic and always ready to help! She helps me a lot patiently, cheerfully, and inspirationally. I also planned to retake her class next quarter. It's so lucky to be her student!!

She is a great teacher! I would definitely take another class that she teaches! Every Wednesday you go in groups so I wouldn't miss Wednesday's class.

Beth is one of the kindest professors. She really wants her students to succeed and become better writers. Her grading schemes allow you to try new things without getting docked for doing them wrong. She also meets with her students throughout the quarter to insure they're doing good in class.

One of the most caring professors I have ever had. She encourages us to explore what we are interested, and gives us positive feedback. Also she is not a tough grader at all.

Saur is absolutely the best professor I have ever had in UCSB. She cares about her students and gives out clear instructions to attain your desired grade. She spent a significant amount of time meeting with students each week, commenting on our essay projects and clarifying any confusions. She grades on a contract style rubric. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

She is the best professor I have had past year at UCSB, her class structure is super clear and the assignments are well designed. She meets with every student during office hours (everyone likes her) and offers constructive feedback on your writing. If you work with her, an A is a guarantee in this class. Just take this class and you won't regret.

beth is the absolute best writing teacher ive ever had in my life. throughout the quarter she was so understanding of her students and made all of her assignments very clear. she also is very accessible! all of the work we did was very meaningful. i highly recommend her!

The class hasn't ended yet, I just want to write this to appreciate how good Beth is as a professor. He's the "best friend" type of prof, very nice to talk to, super inspirational. I can't find anyone who is more considerate than her, she is too nice to be a human being, she is the best prof I ever had so far !! Take her class!!!

Prof Saur is awesome! Her prompts were very open ended, which allowed students to be very creative when writing. She gave great feedback on drafts. Really wanted us to do well. Take her if you can.

I took Writing 2 with Beth over the summer and she was really kind and genuine. I passed with an A, the course work wasnt too difficult but if you like writing then it should be easy. Not too much reading or writing but it may feel like a lot if you take other rigorous courses. We did a couple group projects. She does personal zooms occasionally.

Beth is an absolute gem! She grades essays super easy and gives great feedback. She was also super understanding of everybody's individual circumstances. She made writing fun again.

Beth was very flexible and understanding with students. She is willing to sit down and go through your essays before they are due to give you feedback. Overall, It was an easy class and she gives amazing feedback.

I highly recommend Beth! The grading consisted of three writing projects (25%, 25%, 30%), several informal writing assignments (10%), and participation (10%). I really learned a lot from her, utilize office hours for feedback!

I loved Professor Saur! She's new this year but she was extremely kind and gave really great feedback to everything and her assignments are super open ended too - I learned a lot about my style of writing that doesn't pertain to basic MLA structured academic essays and I loved her class. Easy grader too :)

I'm a first year student coming from a high school that failed at teaching me to write. I took this class as one of my first so that I could hopefully learn to write in a college environment. Professor Saur was very helpful even offering to read my essays before it was due and I ended up getting an A. Maybe I'm just sexy though.

The grading system is a bit different (using contract grading), but it makes me able to focus on the writing itself, but not worrying about what the grade I would get for certain piece of writing. A really caring teacher, not putting a lot of work loads, gives really good feedbacks, respecting, and also a funny professor that you will like. Take it

She is a very conscientious and nice teacher. As long as you meet the requirements you'll get at least a B. To get an A, you just need to write an additional 800-word contract self-assessment. I recommend that you ask her for feedback on major assignments at individual meetings, it's very helpful and you'll thank me for it!

Beth is caring and helpful, and she is not a tough grader. However, there is group meeting every week, so get ready to social with your classmates.

She is a great professor. Contract grading is awesome and you can get a good grade if you show your efforts. Her writing classes are highly recommended.
