Professor Ceniceros is genuinely a really nice guy - he gives very much uncle/grandpa vibes. However, he is completely inaccessible by email and will basically never respond. The class is weighted very unfairly and the final is worth 40% and our class average was below a 55%. Do not take if you are a bad test taker.
Left the lecture hall understanding less. 2 midterms worth 20%. Final worth 40% and is cumulative. Not worth your time or brain power. Better off waiting for a better professor.
Professor Ceniceros is a nice person, but I would NEVER take his class again. Lectures are awful, homework is hard with no explanations, and midterms were misleadingly easy in comparison to the final that seemed to be written by the devil himself. I would routinely leave the lecture hall basically shellshocked. Do what you will with this info.
took his 104A earlier so take this 104B again. getting a good grade is not easy when your TA is tough, but prof himself is not bad. hw is reasonable. if u skip his class, dont skip the review session. the grading policy is so nice. the "drop the lower mid score" literally saves my life. //will write another comment when i finish his 104c.
Literally just used another professor's lecture slides and notes.
Very heavy accent and does NOT care about his students. Just keep talking and talking and assume everyone knows what he talks about.
Prof. Ceniceros knows his stuff about numerical analysis. I truly learned a lot from him and he is quite funny in class just to make lecture not boring. Numerical analysis is really hard b/c the content is huge, but he encourages students to go to his office hour and it is been very helpful.
He might be passionate about numerical analysis ... but he's not a good teacher. It's sad the lecture recordings were from over a year ago.
Professor Yang communicates with the students often with emails, his lectures were straight-forward and I felt like I had a deep understanding on the content, and the exams are challenging. I strongly recommend for Math 3B.
Did not even create his own lectures, used another teacher's lectures from the previous quarter - everything was asynchronous. Quizzes were 5 questions and the lowest one is dropped. You will definitely need to study extra for this class if you want a good grade in it.
Very disorganized lectures. Bad handwriting and difficult to understand. Lectures consist of him doing examples while providing little to no explanation. Do NOT recommend.
No difference in listening to his recorded lecture from just reading his notes yourself, which are equally unclear. The recorded videos seem meaningless since he just transcribes his notes again and reads them verbatim. Not a good teacher.
Since I took this online due to COVID, all his lectures were recorded and super unhelpful. The first week or two weren't bad since it was mostly review, but after that I had to stop listening to his lectures and watched organic chem tutor instead. 5 "tests" (5 questions) and you have a lot of time so they were not too hard. Just doesn't teach well.
Prof. Ceniceros can be unclear his lecture videos; the material is more glossed over and there doesn't feel like a lot of structure. I often was lost during lectures and had to review later. To be fair, his quizzes were very generous with a few questions and a large time window.
He's a nice guy, but lectures do not make sense. TAs did a better job of teaching than him, but his exams weren't that bad or homework. Plus he drops your lowest exam which is a huge plus. Most of the time I self-taught with the textbook and did practice problems.
This professor is the best! I would retake him if he thought MATH4A. His exams are easy and right to the point. He's kind and reminds you when you have an exam coming up. He always welcomes you to the office hours for more questions on how to solve a math equation you couldn't get in the exam. I would recommend 100% for the online course. HMWexam
His lectures are not understandable unless you already know the material. You are basically self studying if you take this course.
Midterm is easy because it is similar to the practice exam. My friends in other 2 professors' classes both have hard exams, so I feel so lucky.
Lectures are clear and he makes concepts pretty simple. Practice tests help you prepare for actual exams. Gives very little homework which is great but also prevents you from fully understanding stuff. I read the book to get a more intuitive understanding of stuff.
Really chill dude. One midterm thats similar to the practice, no final but has a project. Homework are really helpful
Best math prof I had. His lectures are inspiring and deep. He makes sure you understand the main concepts and results. But you have to work pretty hard in his course. He demands a high standard. He really knows his stuff.
wasn't attentive to student needs :(
Super disorganized, hard to understand his speech or handwriting, no response to emails, posts hundreds of hw problems but doesn't say which are important, midterms and final consists of some stuff we don't spend any time on. Didn't show up to any of his exams which all had grading errors, Yang is intelligent and a nice guy, but bad at teaching.
Extremely unorganized from the start. He writes so messily on a tablet and his explanations are so bland. He changed his grading scale so many times throughout the quarter. He never showed up to exams because they had mistakes on them. Some things on the midterms were never covered in class. Some people aren't meant to teach and he is one of them.
