She is a tough grader, but you can really learn a lot from her lectures.
Honestly, it's a bit hard to have an A, but you can really learn a lot from her classes. Try your best to write the two essays, and edit them follow her instructions. She is a very caring teacher and is willing to provide help after class. Do attend her office hours.
DO NEVER TAKE HER CLASS!!!! She is not a fair grader and the grade of first paper came out after the course-drop deadline. She meant to tell you that you are not a good writer. She is indeed encouraging with her feedback, but her generosity is never reflected in her grading. If you take Ling12 with her, prepare it to be harder than writing 2.
Amy is a very interesting teacher. The topic she provided is very motivating, though sometimes the thesis statement is hard to get. The grading criteria are very clear and she is not a tough grader. Go to her office hour and follow her instruction to revise essays, then you will definitely get a high score. I feel I learned a lot in every class.
U can really learn a lot! Easy to get A if you pay enough attention. If you talk about your draft in her OH, you will definitely get a high score!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF U WANT AN A!!!!!!! VERY TOUGH GRADER!!!!!!!!
He is a passionate teacher, but her grading of assignments and papers is really harsh. Sometimes she can always deduct points at unexpected points. Almost every online lecture of hers ends 20 minutes late, and attendance is required. All in all, avoid her.
Never take her course, she has tons of HW and you will never get a chance to receive a good grades, never take, never take
Easy 96, just do hw.
She's not a tough grader, at least for ling3c. There will be two drafts for each essay(draft1 and final). She gives clearly revision advice so if you follow all her instructions, you could expect a 95+ score on final drafts. Homeworks are interesting and barely deduct points as long as you do them. So it's pretty much an easy A.
Just run! Don't take her class! She is hilarious. Her A- is 90 to 92 and I got 89.3 because she curved down the final timed writing which is 15% of the total grade.
Great course for international students
Amy is not expecting students' English to be proficient as Ling 12. Ling 3A is a very easy PNP course, and she requires very little reading. She almost only focuses on grammar, so it is safe to write an illogical essay with none (or few) grammar errors for a pass.
Amy is a very caring, and nice instructor. She gives us feedback for essays in great detail. If you want to take the Ling 3A course, she is definitely a great choice. On the other side though, she is a tough grader and there is always some homework. However, since Ling 3A is a pass/no pass course, get a Pass is EASY.
Shes an excellent teacher who could really teach you something. She gives you clear and detailed feedback on each paper and also provides you different ideas. I love the topics she chooses . Shes patient and helpful during office hours. Listen to her suggestions of papers carefully and you will be fine. Not a easy class, but not hard too.
She is very patient with her students and most of her tasks are inspiring. She also taught us many useful writing stratigies which I've never learned before in China. Definetly recomend her for your linguistic classes!
She is really a poor professor. I bet she did not know what she is doing with her homework. There is no logic between the reading and the writing. And she gives homework without actually teaching you something.
avoid her
She is one of the most responsible instructors for Linguistic class. You can really learn a lot about academic writing strategies, such as metaphors, hedges, and ways of eliminating colloquial. She is a nice and kind person who encourages you to learn. If you participate and follow her step, you can ger an A.
I really like Amy, her grading criteria is very clear. Work hard, you will get A for sure. I really like the writing resources she gives to us, for example, Ted talk about drug addiction.
she always has her own explanation about the essay topic. really hard to follow her logic.
