Mullin is honestly the worst teacher I've ever had. His powerpoint's aren't structured and they aren't organized. He uses abbreviations for words in his Powerpoints, which makes it impossible to decipher what it means unless you explicitly ask. The tests are hard and he's not very approachable. 0/10, do not recommend.

I've taken this professor for two separate classes and have struggled both times. I consider myself a generally bright and hard working student, but this class was very difficult. His notes are very unorganized (as everyone would agree) and going to office hours doesn't help understand the concepts. Avoid if you can, but if not then good luck.

his lectures are more unorganized than any other professor I've had at UCSB. Despite receiving an A, I am disappointed with this class and Dr. Mulin's teaching style. He also tends to make bigoted, racist and even defamatory remarks during his lectures.

not a very helpful professor. pretty rude. doesn't really seem like he cares too much if you understand or don't understand the concept besides asking "you get it?" in class. just wish he wasn't so condescending when we ask for help

Mullin's lectures are pretty funny and engaging. He uses a lot of pop culture references and treats you like the adult you are. If you're expecting to write down everything on the powerpoint and get an A, don't bother. But if you actually LISTEN to what he says, and take decent notes, an A isn't that hard to come by at all. Barely touched readings

Great guy! Terrible professor. No study guide or review is given before exams. Exams are tricky. Powerpoint lectures all over the place. Not recommended. Avoid at all costs.

Honestly loved this class. Dr. Mullin is hilarious (just like his wife) and includes a lot of fun pop-culture references in his lectures. Readings are all online and there are no papers. For an 8AM class, his lectures were fun enough to be worth showing up for. Tests were a bit tough but not impossible. Gloss over the studies and you'll be fine

He is a super funny and nice guy but his slides are very unorganized. If you copy down exactly what is on his slides and just memorize it you will get an A! His test questions come directly from the slides and are even written in the same quirky way that he talks.

His classes are not that hard, but make sure to go to lectures, as he doesn't put his slides online. He is extremely biased in his lectures, and talks insistently about libertarianism. He doesn't try to hide it however, and basically calls himself Ron Swanson. At times, he can be rather funny and informative. Overall, an okay professor.

Attendance is necessary, it is important to write down his slides in your own words. Simply copying them down word for word will make no sense later when you try to read your notes. I suggest googling the studies and clear up any confusing notes. Better to listen to what he is saying than copy the slides. Follow these steps and tests are easy.

Very fun and interesting professor. He always has fun stories to tell related to the topics. Pay attention in class and take detailed notes and you'll be fine.

Go to class and follow his lectures otherwise you will not do well on the tests. Fun to listen to and sometimes difficult to follow. Mullin has a great personality and that makes him a desirable professor over others.

Awesome professor, extremely funny and interesting lectures! No paper, just midterm/final. Doesn't put slides on GauchoSpace so you can't miss too much class, but that's not hard because he keeps it interesting! Take any class with him you won't regret it

If you're a student who needs at least some structure and organization incorporated into the teacher's lectures/power points, then you need to avoid him. Hardly any clarity, there's no study guide, the readings aren't much of a help when it comes to the test, his lectures didn't exactly match up with his questions either & I attended EVERY lecture.

Hes a really cool professor - his enthusiasm made 8 am alot better (same as dolly). His slides/notes can be messy sometimes - there are too many random boxes and sidetrack notes on the screen which can be annoying sometimes. I didn't get the grade that I wanted but I blame nobody but myself. I am going to def. take another class with him.

I don't know why people raved about this class - he goes off on extreme tangents and I feel the class material is based off his OWN interests. If you didn't grow up very familiar w/ US cult. and the 70's and 80's, you're not going to be able to connect w/ the class. Midterm was reasonable but he grades on a curve. I found him to be eccentric.

Clearly he knows his stuff, however his lectures are very scattered and extremely hard to follow. Goes off on tangents about his own personal politics rather than focusing on the material he's supposed to be lecturing.

Media Ent. has been my favorite Com class. I was scared to take Mullin at first from the reviews but he's an awesome prof. He's hard but just go to lecture & right down WHAT HE SAYS in addition to what he puts on the lecture slides. Reading is minimal & accounts for a few test questions. His tests are easier than Dolly's tests in the prereq classes

Mullin was enthusiastic and energetic, which really helped for an 8am lecture! He was funny and kept it interesting by his anecdotes about his obsessions w/ Arrested Development and Buffy. Everyone says do the readings and go to lecture and you'll be fine-so true! Tests are average difficulty but the course is low stress; just the 2 tests! Take him

Don't listen to people's bull, seriously. If you go to lecture everyday, he explains everything you need to know for the tests perfectly clearly, you don't even need to read. Even though it was an 8 am I loved going. He's really funny! Take this class!!

If you thought dolly mullin was bad DO NOT take him. His notes are the most unorganized I have ever seen at UCSB.

Great professor! Smart, upbeat, easy going personality. No textbook (reader instead), no section, no essays, no projects. Multiple choice midterm/final only. Very approachable, helpful, clearly answers questions. It's not that hard: go to lecture, take notes, study. Don't get it? Go to office hours. Extra credit option: class presentation. Got an A
