It's not difficult to pass the course as long as you do the reading and attend section. His lectures are a bit of a snooze though. They're pretty meandering. He even seemed oddly confused when asked about some of the content and exam requirements. The course was still interesting. Just have a good TA and note his main points during class.

Probably one of the worst lecturers I've had. He really just rambles the entire class, very often not about the reading assigned that week. Midterm and final are both short answer, so you do need to actually do the reading. Apparently he grades based on if your answers matched up what he talked about in lecture, but I never went and got an A.

Long and boring lectures that rarely talk about the actual reading assignments. He is very particular about the answers he expects on his exams; you must phrase your responses exactly how he explained them in class, otherwise he will say it's wrong. Lots of reading. Lecture is hard to follow, so hope for a good TA to explain the readings.

It was clear even from the first lecture that the professor is very passionate about this class, always open to questions and thoughts during lecture/office hours. He was even flexible about the term paper deadline. Of course, there are many readings, but as long as you attend section and pay attention in class, you'll do well.

Talks a lot in lecture and goes off on tangents. Even so, he is very in love with what he teaches. He's also very caring and for what is right, like the TA strike. A lot of reading, mainly the Odyssey & some play I forgot. Both interesting and the tests were just main ideas of that and to analyze the books a bit. No HW

Kittler is very nice, the lectures are not very relevant to the course. I barely went to class but got an A because the entire course is based off a midterm, final, and final paper. Section is important and the TA will go over what you need to know. Lots of reading so make sure to stay on top of it. Section and reading are a must for this course.

The class was really easy and I'd definitely recommend it as a gen ed. If you attend lectures, you'll be fine. He was friendly when answering questions. One of my favorite classes!

as mentioned by others, lectures are hard to sit through and occasionally his German accent is hard to understand. the lectures were essentially just a more detailed summary of the reading we did for homework

Pretty tough professor, lectures are hard to sit through, too many tangents, extremely hard to understand.

While I agree that his lectures are long and tangential, he always made sure to upload his slides and recording to GS. This class is great if you enjoy ancient literature; the readings and assignments are interesting and relevant. Grading included participation, a midterm + final exam, and a final paper (1800 words). Easy class if you stick with it

Wolfs lectures were incredibly hard to sit through. I attended lecture for the first half of the quarter before I realized the lectures had nothing to do with the midterm or anything at all really. I think hes a nice guy, but not a great public speaker and went on the worrrst tangents. Anyway, easy A so I cant be that mad. Section was important!

I took C LIT 30A with Prof. Kittler in Fall 2018. I found him very interesting, but his lectures are quite boring and he can be hard to understand sometimes due to his German accent. However, this is a super easy class to pass if you just do the readings. Like with any class, it will benefit you if you have a pre-existing interest in the subject.

If I actually took the time to read and understand the material, I probably would've done better. Lectures were a pain, I only went because of the possibility of a quiz. I felt like my TA expected a lot from us, but they were only trying to help us. All in all, it made me realize how hard college classes are and that I need to step up my game.

Wolf is absolutely darling, and the class itself is incredibly easy as long as you attend lecture, take notes, and pay attention in section. The final paper is annoying, but it's not that bad and it's the only paper the whole quarter and it gives you a writing credit. Anyway, Sparknotes is your friend, and I recommend this as a GE.

Readings were interesting, he seems passionate but the lectures are boring and hard to follow. Two pop quizzes, paper was fairly easy to do.

He is very knowledgable + enthusiastic about the material, but his lectures can be hard to understand w/ his accent and it's hard to tell what he's talking about a lot of the time because he goes between texts and his slides aren't labelled with titles. My TA, Rachel Feldman, was awesome though. An essay, 2 pop quizzes, short answer midterm + final

This is the most boring professor you will ever have. It is hard to distinguish between his random tangents and actual test material. I recommend finding another place to fulfill your literature requirements

Two pop quizzes mean you must attend lecture. His lectures are straightforward but could be cut down to 20 minutes, definitely not 75. My TA (Jeff Bellomi) was amazing and I mostly depended on him to pass. If you do the readings and attend most lectures you will most likely get an A. His voice is very dull.

His lectures are moderately clear, though he sometimes goes on tangents. His analysis of texts is good. His tests are short essays and there is a final essay. There are 2 pop quizzes.

To pass the quizzes you pretty much just had to attend section and pay attention. Showing up to class was mandatory because of the quizzes, but if you're taking the class you should be showing up. Simply doing that and paying attention gets you a good grade. Don't take the class if you're not gonna put in the work (as easy as it was) !

I took this class expecting a lot and it was the biggest disappointment. His lectures hare hard to understand because you don't get a clear picture as to what exactly he wants you to know. The midterm and final required you to pretty , much memorize poems and novels because lack of details could cost you your grade. Pop quiz grades were a joke
