Introduces students to information access and retrieval of primary and secondary sources in Latin American and Iberian Studies and related fields, using databases and other tools. The course discuss how software programs are not neutral tools for research but human-designed and may reflect programmers' unconscious bias, and how it is necessary to understand how they work to improve research results. Furthermore, the course explores not only how to do archival research, but how to do it ethically. At the end of the term, students will know effective ways to conduct library and archival research and become reflective scholars.
