This course supports transfer students in their transition to UCSB through a CALM framework: Community, Action, Leadership, and Mentorship. Students research a campus or community concern and share findings through collaborative presentations. They explore campus organizations that inspire action and connect involvement to local and global issues. The course also introduces leadership opportunities, emphasizing emotional intelligence and communication skills. Finally, students examine the role of mentorship in academic success and career development. Through reflection and guided activities, students build belonging, confidence, and a personalized plan for engagement at UCSB.
