We are witnessing a major restructuring of the global economy and the worldof work. Over the past decade there has been an upsurge of protest by working people worldwide taking a variety of forms from workplace and mass strikes to street protest. This course is devoted to (1) theoretical debates on the link between the restructuring of the global economy, labor conditions and collective mobilization, and (2) substantive analysis of key cases of labor unrest and social protest in countries across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
