Communication - COMM

This course examines how communication behaviors relate to the role of emotions (like stress and satisfaction) at work in the pursuit of well- being. Topics include emotional labor, gratitude, conflict, social support,social networks and communicative contagion of mood -- intersecting with issues of group and organizational communication. Students are encouraged to bring their personal insights into the classroom and use theories and concepts to evaluate their own experiences. Course activities include fieldexercises, journal writing, and culminates with a team-based project.

Prerequisites: Not open to freshmen.
