CollegeHe said he's retiring, but also said he might come back to volunteer teach a class. If you are in the future and see that he is teaching a class, take it! The best kind of old soul out there, extremely knowledgeable and personable. Wish I took more classes with him!
Professor Reynolds is genuinely kind and so passionate about what he teaches which makes learning the material that much more enjoyable and interesting. He is someone with such an interesting life story and so many amazing stories from his field work. Definitely would recommend taking his class and talking to him about his career/interests.
Professor Reynolds is by far the best professor I've had at UCSB. He is so knowledgeable about Middle Eastern culture and his lectures are always interesting and informative. He is genuinely so passionate about what the content he teaches which makes learning the material that much more enjoyable and fun. Definitely would recommend taking his class
Prof Reynolds gives a lot of extra credit opportunities so if you aren't doing pass/no pass I would recommend doing the effort for extra credit to easily get an A or A+. He also says what to study for the midterm/final. Technically attendance isn't mandatory but there were pop quizzes in some of the lectures. Attendance was mandatory for section.
Very standard GE. Pretty interesting class and not to hard. Lots of EC opportunities, and theres a review for the midterm and final. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are pop quizzes although he does like to indirectly tell you if there will be one next class. Wants everyone to do well and has pretty interesting content. Would take again.
I was not a fan of literature, but professor Reynolds made this class really interesting. I learned a lot, and he gave a lot of extra credits. There are a lot of readings, but they are all fun to read, and not really technical. Although attendance is not mandatory, he gives pop quizzes in lecture, so be aware of that.
