INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend Prof. Wolfe for any class. One of the most caring, respected, and kind professors I've ever had. A gem of the department. Lectures were fantastic. He knows so much and it's the best to just sit back and listen. You can get away with not attending lectures+screenings but why would you? So good.

101s are a lot of work but wolfe makes it enjoyable. weekly discussion posts based on section, research paper+proposal+exercise, final. really caring and flexible during the strike. seems like a cool guy. passionate about the class/material. a lot of reading + screenings + lectures.

I love film and history, so I thought this would be great, and while the movies were, his asynchronous lectures bored me to the point where I didn't even watch the last 3 weeks of them because the 10 page research paper + weekly readings + weekly films were exhausting. Knowledgeable but dry and rambling. Lectures for one week were excessive.

Intelligent, inspiring lecturer! The papers in this class are very hard and time consuming, so plan ahead, and go to office hours! Weekly forum posts, 1 intense historiographical research paper and another final project. Some of the films are kind of boring but overall an interesting class, kind of exactly what I expected of 101B.

Charles Wolfe is one of the most knowledgeable professors I've ever had. I took his seminar for Buster Keaton and he excelled in teaching the subject matter. He does give out a lot of readings, some easier to read than others, but doable. The grade was determined by attendance, weekly journals, and a 10-page paper as a final, so be ready to write.

This class was OK, pretty boring and very very time consuming. Lectures are 4x a week, and you have to do a reading response every week. Gives random pop quizzes to see if you did the readings. Take home midterm, extremely long final which takes the whole 3 hours. Paper is tedious and requires A LOT of research, so start early.
