Factors that control structure: ionic radii, covalency, ligand field effects, metal- metal bonding, electron/atom ratios. Professor Ram has been my favorite professor so far. He has reminded me why I loved chemistry in the first place! His lectures are very straightforward, and he takes things at a nice pace. Does a great job at incorporating real world examples that are relevant to college students interests. Keeps lectures interesting! His tests are also very fair.
Best dude around, I actually love this man so much. No doubt my favorite chem prof I have ever had. You have to really listen in lecture cause he will sneak in questions about things he mentioned in passing in the midterms. Super test heavy but that's honesty expected with the chem 3 series. Love u Ram
Took for 3C. Best professor I've had at UCSB. Genuinely cares about us and tests are reasonable+ fairly graded. So funny and loves chemistry. Found a way to bring up food and food chemistry every lecture. Great guy who will go out of his way to help us. 10/10
