Emergency Poetics in Latin America provides graduate students with the chance to examine art and literature from Latin America and U.S. Latinx communities spanning the 20th and 21st centuries. This approach offers a unique methodology aimed at understanding these cultural expressions withintheir historical contexts through a transdisciplinary lens. Emergency Poetics utilizes linguistic and formal tools to convey urgent messages in response to imminent dangers, often diverging from established canons. Thisdivergence categorizes works as experimental or impenetrable, allowing themto react dynamically to specific stimuli.

CollegeI took Prof. Ramirez for SPAN 2 over the summer and she is one of the best professors I've had at UCSB!!! She is so sweet, organized, and grades assignments/tests fast. I recommend her highly! :)
I took her for Spanish 2, and she was the best! She grades your assignments very fast, I submitted my final and it was graded within almost 2 hours. If you need help, she is very willing to schedule office hours with students, and assist them with whatever questions they have. I HIGHLY recommend her!
Professor is amazing! She genuinely wants her students to do good. Every time we had questions she did her best to answer. Just be aware if you are taking this class, you will have A LOT of homework.
Professor Ramirez was a great professor. She spoke a lot in Spanish, which can be tough, but I was lucky enough to have some experience in Spanish prior to this class which helped me throughout the class.
Amazing Spanish professor! I learnt so much from her. She wants students to do well and is very patient with beginning learners. Highly recommend!
