CollegeLacks empathy and respect for basic life interruptions that college students may experience.
Roberta is very knowledgable in the field and gives informative lectures. I don't know if I'd call her approachable but she is a great resource. Gave in-class quizzes everyday so don't miss class, but they are just participation based and serve as vital study guides for midt/final. Labs pretty much take a whole day to do but help study material.
The better option over Rioux. Quizzes are basically exam not exactly identical but prepare you for the questions youll see. Gives review sheet for exams. Covid labs were way too long but TA was helpful. No one is going to make mineralogy exciting. Slides clearly point out important details that you should watch out for. I suck at rocks and got a B
Roberta is a really good teacher for mineralogy. She is extremely clear about what she wants you to know. You take quizzes for participation (show up get 100%), and those quizzes are her midterms and finals. I really liked her and she was super helpful in office hours, plus her dog Murphy loves pets. She is a solid choice for E114.
The class low key sucked. Quizzes every week ranging from 15-35 questions. 2 midterms but drops the lowest one, both filled with specific ass questions. Labs are okay, depends on TA. MANDATORY FIELD TRIP!! All in all wouldn't recommend this class with this teacher. Also she isn't good at lecturing or working the iclicker.
Good professor. Knowledgeable in many areas in Earth science and she lectures on interesting topics. She tests on some material that isn't covered in the lectures, but in the reading. If you at least skim read the book this is an easy A. There's a little extra credit available too, but I didn't do it.
