CollegeWanted to like this class, but there is a participation requirement that makes you ask questions/raise your hand in class basically every class period to not get penalized (kind of unfair). Attendance is "mandatory" but it is not taken. Exams graded a bit harshly IMO but other assignments offset it.
I really enjoyed taking this class with Dr. Albada, she was a great person. The class is pretty simple, just make sure to stay on top of your work. 2 take home exams and one final project at the end of the quarter, as well as a couple of group assignments. She is super sweet and is willing to explain any little question you may have. 100% recommend
easy class, nice teacher, the group projects arent super big and can be completed in class, one large final presentation project thing, quizzes are pretty easy. would highly reccomend
I had Dr. Albada for 10A and 10B, and she is by far the most organized professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. There were no surprises with grading, and I appreciated how many things contributed to my grade. She won't take late work, curve, or give extra credit, but with a reasonable amount of work an A is very attainable.
I learned more stats from Albada's 10b course than I ever did in my regular PSTAT classes. She is an amazing lecturer and has incredible way of breaking stats down, making it digestible. Her slides are so nicely detailed and clear. You will do well and learn so much from her!
Had Albada for 10A/10B and she still stands as one of the most organized and consistent UCSB professors I've ever met. I barely had to study for 10B to pass any of the assigned quizzes, and a majority of the work I put toward 10B outside of lecture was just spent on the weekly assignments. If you can take the 10-series with her, do it! No regrets.
