CollegeThought he was a bit unorganized. lectured for first 3 weeks then rest of the quarter was group projects presenting topics the professor should be teaching more about; especially since the final paper is based on the projects. Takes random attendance w a sign-in sheet. his accent made it hard for me to understand what he was saying sometimess
This class was the easiest upper div soc class I've taken. He lectures for 5 weeks, interesting topic and he usually ended the class early. He passed around an attendance sheet and there was a group project. The presentations last the final 5 weeks and there's one easy take home final essay (3-5 pages).
I love him as a professor, he has been everywhere and has so much experience. Prof Lopez-Alves knows what he's talking about. Will defiantly take another class with him!
Super easy class, never listened to lectures, do the work, show up to all classes and you'll get an A. Extremely boring lecturer with a thick accent but good guy. I missed about 5 classes and got a B bc he takes roll and it really counts toward your grade so make sure you go! 1 group project and 1 final (2 short essay questions)
I have taken two classes with him because I absolutely fallin in love with his teaching methods. he is TOO funny! He allows open book open notes for his midterm and final. THERE IS NO WAY YOU CANNOT GET A GOOD GRADE IN HIS CLASS at least a B even if you do not read. Use quotes for all his exams it WILL boost your grade! TAKE HIM!
He has 1 midterm ad 1 final and the tests are open book!!!! Which allows you to actually uderstand the material insead of memorizing it. Great professor very fun class.
