ECON189 . Kulper D E 12 Days Ago

Great guy, fantastic teacher, fun class. My only problem with this class is how insanely difficult it is to get an A. You can get 100% on every quiz but one (two quizzes are dropped) and get 90% on every exam (these are really hard too) and you still won't have the points for an A. Kind of ridiculous. Other than that no complaints.

Avoid 118 with him. Lectures are mando and just regurgitate all of the info he made you read before class, and it's all material from a book he wrote himself that is super random. His tests are the WORST. Super vague and leading questions, info is left out and they don't make sense most of the time. Tries to make up for it with a curve. Just awful.

Kulper is an amazing professor and my favorite I've had at UCSB. He makes his lectures fun and goes over all of the chapters with in-depth explanations. I did not find his tests too hard; just read the chapters and remember the key details. He worked with me for various time conflicts / other obligations I had. I highly recommend him W professor 😍

Absolute worst professor i've ever had at ucsb. Sucks dih at teaching and goes on irrelevant tangents about himself or things he finds interesting regarding the material but not actual important details that we are tested on. His practice exams are so easy and nowhere near the difficulty or bs that is on the actual exams.

Doug Kulper is truly a gem in the dept at UCSB. He cares so much about his students and is more than willing to help them succeed. Tests and quizzes are critical thinking based but if you really spend the time to read, you will succeed. NO TRICK QUESTIONS!!! Very down to earth Professor.

Professor Kulper is certainly a good instructor and he has the track record and real life experience to support his teaching. Hes also heavily involved with campus activities (UAS and the TAG program). Just dont get on his bad side & dont try to correct him. He occasionally gaslights his student, including alum that have long graduated.
